Overview of BIT Colleges

Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) is a four years degree run by TU, PU, Purbanchal and other foreign universities in Nepal. Students who wants to make a career in network or system can go for BIT degree. The main focus of BIT is in networking, data communication, computer system. Although core computer courses are similar in most of the computer courses, however students will encounter lots of network related courses throughout the BIT degree. BIT graduates can work as a network administrator, system administrator, network security specialist and so on. BIT graduates can also go for software development however, the major focus area of the course is not towards programming.

Foreign Universities affiliated BIT Colleges in Nepal

In Nepal, many foreign universities have granted affiliations to colleges to run Information Technology and Computing courses at the Bachelors' level. These courses are equivalent to BIT program. However, the program duration of these courses is of 3 years in semester system. After the completion of the program, the degree is awarded from the University. 

Tribhuvan University BIT Colleges in Nepal

BIT of TU is four years program of eight semesters. To study this program one have to complete twelve years of schooling from any board recognized by TU or must have C grade or 2.0 CGPA or CTEVT Diploma all three years with Mathematics, and must have passed all the subject with C grade or CGPA 2.0. TU will conduct the entrance exam for admission and students must fill out forms and submit before the entrance exam. The forms must have student’s vital information such as scanned copy of bank voucher, MRP standard photo, SLC/SEE Mark sheets, and Academic transcripts of Plus2 and School Leaving Certificate exams. After that, the College will take a personal interview for those who have passed the entrance exam and then hand the offer letter which must be filled and submitted to Administration department of the concerned College for successful enrolment.

Purbanchal University BIT Colleges in Nepal

Bachelor of Information Technology is 140 credit hours of study in four years eight semesters period. To apply at PU Colleges the admission forms will be open for a specified period where students will have to submit with entrance exam fees. Then the entrance exam will be held on a given date by PU and from passed out students a shortlist of candidates will be prepared on merit basis and they have to enroll at the Concerned College academic program before the start of new academic session of BIT program. For eligibility, one must have completed Plus 2 with Mathematics and CGPA 2.0 and above or 45 percent marks with D+ grades in all subjects from any other board recognized by PU.
