Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Kathmandu University)

The Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Power and Control) is a four-year specialized program offered by the Kathmandu University. However, initially, the program starts as the Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and it branches out into power and control engineering and communication engineering in the fifth semester. The program is designed to provide students with rigorous knowledge and skills in the areas related to power and control with an intensive understanding of power system modeling, power quality, power engineering, planning, power electronics, operation & control. The Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering equips students with skills to need for engineering design and implementation by letting them do projects throughout the program with varying degree of complexity.

Since the Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering program is continuously restructured and refined, the curriculum may vary every academic session. As of now, the program covers courses, such as Engineering Drawing, Basic Circuit Analysis, Communication Skills, Structured Programming, General Chemistry, General Physics, Calculus and Linear Algebra, Advanced Calculus, object-Oriented Programming and Introduction to Environmental Engineering among others. Students who choose to specialize in Power and Control Engineering shall undertake courses of 36 credit hours, including Engineering Project, Power and Control Lab, Solid State Drives, Power Systems II, Control Systems Design and Industrial Management to name a few.

Kathmandu University-School of Engineering is the only academic institution offering the Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Power and Control) program under the affiliation of KU in Nepal.


Objective

The Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering program aspire to offer intensive knowledge in electronic and electrical engineering and to provide students with expertise that help them to practice as an engineer. Some of the specific objectives of the Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering program are listed below:

  • To produce academically sound, confident and creative grads with entrepreneurial attitude
  • To enable students to adapt to ever-evolving technologies and contemporary issues
  • To encourage students to act ethically and professionally
  • To enable students to work efficiently on multi-disciplinary teams


Admission Requirements

The academic year begins in the month of June/July. Applicant interested in pursuing this program should have completed +2 or intermediate level with at least fifty percent marks in aggregate. Moreover, applicant should have scored fifty percent in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics subjects. Applicant should appear in the entrance te4st conducted by the university.
