B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology (Pokhara University)

The Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Technology offered by the Pokhara University is a 4-year semester-based program, focusing on producing competent human resources to work as a professional medical laboratory technician, carrying out various presentations, therapeutic, rehabilitative functions and new research. This program allows students to spend maximum time in a lab setting, developing practical skills and knowledge and getting familiar with the sophisticated equipment and machines.

The Bachelor of Science in medical Laboratory program comprises of forty-eight courses including seminar, internship and project work. It covers subjects such as Medical Laboratory Science, Laboratory, General Chemistry, Microbiology, Analytical Chemistry, General Histology, General Cytology, Anatomy and Physiology, Biochemistry, Health & Diseases, General Pathology, Cytopathology, Histopathology and Hematology among others.


Objective

The aim of Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory discipline is to produce educated and technically skilled clinical laboratory experts who are completely capable of performing diverse clinical laboratory tests with quality control. Some of the specific objectives of this program are listed below:

  • To train students to act within the ethic of their profession.
  • To produce educated and trained manpower in the field of medical laboratory to deliver qualitative health laboratory services.
  • To encourage students to conduct and participate in the research works.
  • To enable students to undertake the different tests and interpret the results.


Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory program, an applicant must:

  • Hold an Intermediate in Science, +2 in Science streams-biology or PCL degree from the board or university recognized by Pokhara University
  • Have secured minimum of second division score

Admission Procedures:

In order to get admission to this program, the applicant should pass the entrance test conducted by the university. 

Required Documents:

While applying for the admission students should submit the following documents:

  • Accurately filled and signed admission form
  • Photocopy/copy of certificates of SLC and +2 or intermediate level
  • Character certificates issued by the academic institutes attended
  • Two recent passport size photos
