The SchEMS (School of Environmental Management and Sustainable Development) was established in January 1999 and the college is affiliate to Pokhara University (PU). The SchEMS was opened by a team of competent and modified teachers. The team members are from various background.
The College has collaborated with the Government of Nepal Education under the Ninth Five Year Plan.
The main objective of Ninth Five Year plan is to enhance specific human resource that is related in the environmental field for establishing institutions. The main aim of the college is to provide highly skilled and professional manpower.

The School of Environmental Management and Sustainable Development (SchEMS) was established in January 1999. SchEMS is affiliated to Pokhara University (PU) under the Pokhara University Act 1995. The School of Environmental Management and Sustainable Development was founded by the team of highly experienced and motivated professionals. The team consists of national as well as international goodwill and recognition with multidisciplinary backgrounds.
The School of Environmental Management and Sustainable Development (SchEMS) has coordinated with the Government of Nepal Education Policy under the Ninth Five Year Plan. To develop a specific human resource related in the environmental field the Ninth Five Year Plan gives priority to the establishment of institutions.
The School of Environmental Management and Sustainable Development (SchEMS) is dynamic, affordable and provides programs which offers the state of the art information which meets the local condition. The college provides facilities such as interactive teaching activities, scholarship to deserving candidates, opportunity to be involved in research and consultancy works as an intern.
The main objective of the School of Environmental Management and Sustainable Development (SchEMS) is to produce skilled human resources based on the integrated environmental management and sustainable development in order to meet the country’s need as well as region.
The College has collaborated with different international universities like People’s Republic Bangladesh, Canada, The Netherlands, UK, USA and Australia.

The Environmental management is an integrative subject. The course stresses on the social, cultural and economic aspects of the environment. The course is balanced due to the interdisciplinary fields of knowledge that has been unified to provide complete working knowledge on the environmental management. The course runs for two years which includes of four semester in-depth and friendly teaching as well as practical input.
After the completion of the course the candidates can work as an environmental scientist, environmental management, INGOs and NGOs.
The SchEMS offers a Bachelor of Science (B.SC.) Degree in the Environmental Management in the undergraduate program. The course is introduced for generating the qualified environmental management professionals with the leadership quality and problem solving inclination. The extra feature of this program is the mixture of scientific, social, cultural economic aspects of the environment.
The Environmental Management Degree builds the understanding of planning systems and processes of environmental changes which offers the training in management techniques.
The students can work in national and local level organizations, ministries, departments, private companies and public corporations as well as in NGOs and INGOs.
Duration of the Program:
This program runs for over the time period of 4 years (eight semesters) which covers 120 credit hours. The academic year begins in the month of September.
The candidates with an intermediate or +2 in science, Forestry, Agriculture, Engineering and other interrelated technical subjects or equivalent from a recognized institution are eligible to enter into the B.SC. in Environmental Management.
