MSc Physics | TU

Master of Science in Physics or MSc Physics is a two year program. This variety of MSc program is provided by the Tribhuvan University (TU) of Nepal. This program is based on the semester system and has altogether four semesters in total. The four semester program is equivalent to 60 credit hours. Physics is a very exciting subject which deals with the smallest atom of the vast universe. In this degree, students will gather impressive knowledge from billions of galaxies to very tiny electrons and protons, from quantum to cosmos. From knowledge of gravitational law to thermodynamics, from numerous stars to subatomic particle, from energy to mass, these are some of the major curiosity of an enthusiastic Physics student. In order to provide the scientific answer and solution for all this major curiosity of students, this program was designed. In this program, students are imparted with the in depth knowledge of theory as well as practical subject matters of physics.

MSc Physics degree has been upgraded as per the syllabus of BSc four year programs. Different core courses along with several elective courses are taught to students and new areas of study are also explored. This master level degree has been revised and upgraded to meet the minimum quality of international standard.

Fee structure:

The cost of pursuing this degree in colleges affiliated to Tribhuvan University is about Nrs.28, 000 to Nrs.30, 000 per semester in average. However, the cost of pursuing this program in government colleges is quite lesser than that of private colleges. Private colleges have not provided their specific fee structure in their official websites. It is wise on the part of aspirants to visit the colleges and take detail and exact information regarding the fee structure. 

Objectives of MSc Physics

The major objectives of MSc Physics program are:

  • To provide student up to date knowledge of physics and make them familiarize with the recent trends and developments in this field.
  • To provide knowledge and skill of different aspects related to theory, experiment and practical application to the student.
  • To develop manpower efficient in conducting various research programs in the field of physics and to develop manpower that are capable of teaching up to master level.
  • To produce highly trained researcher in the field of physics, with ability of using power of physics for the benefit of the living beings by understanding the ethical and moral constraints.

Admission Requirements in MSc Physics

Eligibility Criteria for the Admission:

The candidates for MSc Physics program must have to pass BSc in Physics or any level equivalent to BSc degree from the colleges/ university recognized by Tribhuvan University. Applicants with same major subjects are also qualified to get admission in this degree. Interested candidates must have to appear in the entrance exam of this degree conducted by Central Department of Physics (CPD). The applicants must have to score minimum marks in order to get admission.
