About the Program
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Designed to cater to the need for identifying and intervening with the emerging issues and perennial social problems of global circumstances and Nepalese context, the Bachelor of Social Sciences (BoSS) is an undergraduate and interdisciplinary course, affiliated to the Kathmandu University. This semester system program spreads over 8 semesters in 4 years. Each semester consists of 16 weeks of intensive studies both theoretical and practical. The course contains 128 credit hours including 3-credits internship and 6-credits research based project work
PROGRAM OUTCOME
BoSS program aims to address the need for holistic study of social dynamism to acquire bird eye view of inter-related issues of society and also to produce agents for social change by appreciating scientific principles and rigor for research aided by communication skill. Upon completion of the program, BoSS graduates will have the critical reasoning capacity, decision making caliber, leadership trait, communication skills and a better understanding of the dynamics of Nepalese, regional and global aspects.
PROGRAM PROSPECTS
Successful BoSS graduates will have job opportunities in the Social Organizations, Policy Institutions and Research Institutions, I/NGOs, Government Organizations and Private Sectors. They will also be able to work as independent researchers and social entrepreneurs. The BoSS program graduates are qualified for Master in Sociology, Anthropology,Media Studies, Culture, Philosophy, Social Psychology, International Relations, Public Policy, Master in Development Studies (MDevS), and socio-economic related interdisciplinary programs among others
