Overview

Previously known as HMTTC, Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM) is an academy established four decades ago by the Government of Nepal with the technical backing from UNDP/ILO. It was officially established in 1972. Along with its steady services in Nepalese Tourism and Hotel Management education, it has been bringing forth the proficient workforces required for the hospitality and tourism industry. With an enormous growth in the tourism industry over recent years, the accompanying need for skilled manpower has not subsided. As a result, the academy, with deliberation alongside the industry has introduced three years’ bachelors degree in Hotel Management (BHM) from 1999, and three years’ bachelors degree in Travel and Tourism management (BTTM) from September 2003 in affiliation with Tribhuvan University. In addition, NATHM is also associated with International College of Hotel Management (ICHM) after having obtained an official accreditation to enroll its BHM graduates into fourth year of Bachelors of International Hotel Management in Adelaide, Australia. Established with an aim to generate skillful manpower in the hospitality and tourism sector, NATHM is located at Rabi Bhawan in Kathmandu.

With over forty years of experience in the tourism and hotel management education, the college has been continuously looking to contribute with the skilled human resources for the enhancement of tourism and hospitality sector. NATHM is coordinated by the Board of Directors attended by secretary of Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Mr. Suresh Man Shrestha along with the members of Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN), Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA), Ministry of Finance, Trekking Agents Association of Nepal (TAAN), National Planning Commission (NPC), and Department of Labor and Employment Promotion.

NATHM aims to generate competent workforce called for the tourism sectors and Hotel management sectors such as food preparation and control, basic food preparation, food and beverage services, housekeeping, and front office operation.
