B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology | Pokhara University

The Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Technology offered by the Pokhara University (PU) is a 4 year program. This program is based on semester system and has been divided into altogether eight semesters in total.  This degree focuses on producing competent human resources to work as a professional lab technician, carrying out various presentations, therapeutic, rehabilitative functions and new research. This program allows students to spend their maximum time in a lab which helps in further development of practical skills and knowledge of students. Not only this, this degree also allows students to be familiar with the sophisticated equipment and machines.

This degree comprises of forty-eight courses including seminar, internship and project work. It covers major subjects such as Lab Science, lab, General Chemistry, Microbiology, Analytical Chemistry, General Histology, General Cytology, Anatomy and Physiology, Biochemistry, Health & Diseases, General Pathology, Cytopathology, Histopathology, Hematology etc.

Objectives of B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology

The aim of this degree is to produce educated and technically skilled clinical lab experts with the ability of performing diverse clinical lab tests with quality control. Some of the major objectives of this program are listed below:

  • To train students to act within the ethic of their profession.
  • To produce educated and trained manpower in the field of health sector to deliver qualitative health lab services.
  • To encourage students to conduct and participate in the research works.
  • To enable students to undertake the different tests and interpret the results.

Admission Requirements in B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology

In order to be eligible for admission to this program, applicants have to follow following criteria:

  • Candidates must have to pass either Intermediate in Science or +2 in Science stream with biology subject or PCL degree from the college/ board/ university recognized by Pokhara University.
  • Must have to secure minimum of second division score in the board of intermediate level.

Admission Procedures:

In order to get admission to this program, the applicant must have to pass the entrance test conducted by the Pokhara University. 

Required Documents for Admission:

While applying for the admission students must have to submit the following documents:

  • Accurately filled and signed admission form.
  • Photocopy of certificates of SLC and certificates of either of +2 or of PCL degree or of any intermediate level.
  • Character certificates issued by the academic institutes attended.
  • Two recent passport size photos.
