The Tribhuvan University Central Department of Hydrology and Meteorology was established in 1987 on the Kirtipur Campus. Around 200 students have already graduated from here. It conducts globally recognized research that is recognized by employers across the globe. It helps to provide study of crucial area meterology and hydrology for the socioeconomic development of the country. Besides theory and lab-based courses, students also have enough exposure to extensive fieldwork techniques to build competitive knowledge in various fields. It stands true to the values of scientific integrity, dedication to teaching research and service, innovations in academics and research, collaboration, and congeniality overall. The Central Department of Hydrology and Meteorology also has established goals of being the Center for Weather and Climate Risk to solve the problems of weather and climatic conditions.
