Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) in Cybersecurity | KU
Overview
Kathmandu University’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering, in collaboration with Ullens Education Foundation, launched the Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Cybersecurity program in 2024. This four-year (eight-semester) undergraduate degree is designed to produce highly skilled and ethical cybersecurity professionals in Nepal who can safeguard digital infrastructures and tackle evolving cyber threats.
The program requires the successful completion of 123 credit hours and combines classroom learning with practical training, projects, internships, and industry exposure.
Objectives of B.Tech. in Cybersecurity
The B.Tech in Cybersecurity program at Kathmandu University is designed with a forward-looking curriculum that prepares students to become highly skilled, ethical, and industry-ready cybersecurity professionals. The structure emphasizes technical expertise, hands-on learning, and social responsibility to address the growing demand for cybersecurity specialists in Nepal and beyond.

Admission requirement
Being a full academic candidate expecting to enrol on the programme should meet the conditions mentioned below:
Academic requirement: Candidates with the following educational qualifications are eligible for enrollment:
- Candidate must have scored at least an aggregate GPA of 2.0 or a minimum of 50% in grade XI and XII or its equivalent.
- Candidate should be from the Science of Management stream and must have studied Maths and Computer Science both in XI or XII or its equivalent.
Entrance: Wishful candidatesof the Science and Management stream should collect, fill and submit the admission form along with copies of other relevant documents at the institution offering the programme. The need to appear in the KUCAT-CBT (Computer-Based Test) entrance examination administered by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Only those scoring higher grades are preferred for enrollment. The format of the entrance examination is given below:
- Subject covered: English, Mathematics and Computer Science
- Total duration: 2 hrs.
- Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
- Total questions: 120 (40questions for each subject)
- Full Marks:120
Fee structure
The estimated cost for the full 4-year B.Tech in Cybersecurity program is approximately:
