Bachelor in Fine Arts (BFA) is an undergraduate degree, which mainly deals with the education related to visual or performing arts. BFA degree is also called as Bachelor of Creative Arts or Bachelor of Visual Arts. This degree is dedicated to those students who are planning to settle their professional career in the sector of arts. This degree is practical based course. This degree is four year program.

This degree is launched by focusing the ambitious, motivated and imaginative candidates. This degree is designed in such a way that it helps to develop and exhibit an exciting studio practice and acquire the professional, intellectual skills of students. This degree helps students to fully develop ideas to deepen knowledge of art history and contemporary art in students. This course is usually pursued by the students who have an performer hidden in them. Candidates who have a creative bent of mind and a natural instinct towards visual or performing arts are a perfect fit for BFA course.

Objectives of Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA)

The main objectives of BFA degree are:

  • To develop practical skill among the students.
  • To provide the understanding of Nepalese art and of other civilization to the students.
  • To know the history, theory as well as to get practice of visual and media.
  • To prepare arts with originality and depth.
  • To apply their knowledge in the production and analysis of media arts.

Admission Requirements in Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA)

Eligibility Criteria:

  • All candidates who have completed their grade 12 in any stream from college/ university/ board recognized by Tribhuvan University are eligible for admission.
  • Although there is usually no other criteria but some universities/ colleges may also demand a minimum percentage (usually 50 – 60%) that candidates need to secure in Class 12th to get admission in BFA course.
  • Beside this criteria, preference at the time of admission is sometimes given to candidates who have studied Arts/ Humanities in Class 12th and have some basic knowledge of the Fine Arts subject which they are looking to pursue.
