The National School of Sciences, popularly known as NIST, was established in 1993 to promote science in the field of education. It is affiliated with the Higher Secondary Education Board for plus-two degrees and Tribhuvan University for bachelor and master levels. It has highly experienced, dedicated, motivated, and qualified staff members. It provides quality education for more than 800 students. The National School of Sciences is located in Lainchour, Kathmandu, Nepal.
Besides the +2 in Science and Management program, this college also provides bachelor's degrees in microbiology, biochemistry, food technology, pharmacy, business studies, and CSIT. The National School of Sciences also provides a master's degree in microbiology and biotechnology and a diploma degree in pharmacy and lab technician. Among the above courses, Bio-Chemistry at the Bachelor level is affiliated with Purbanchal University. The three-year diploma course is affiliated with CTEVT, and the rest of the courses are affiliated with Tribhuvan University at the bachelor and master levels.
Facilities

- The library is well furnished, clean, and provides all the needed books. The sports ground contains a basketball court, table tennis board, badminton court, and football pitch.
- College tours, annual programs, and industrial visits are conducted at NIST College, which makes students more confident and enthusiastic about studying.
- Internal assessments, seminars, guest lectures, and presentations are conducted regularly. Extra classes are conducted for weak students.
- Students take part in extracurricular competitions in sports and cultural programs.

Scholarships at National School of Sciences
- The board topper, district topper, and entrance topper are provided with full scholarships.
- Entrance exam toppers within the top 5 ranks get full scholarships; 6–10 ranked students get 80 percent scholarships; and 11–90 students get scholarships as per rank order in the science stream for plus two.
- NIST Genius students who can secure the top 10 ranks within internal tests are awarded a 3-month tuition fee.
- Recommended students by HSEB will also be awarded scholarships.

Admission Procedure
- Students must secure a minimum of second division marks in the SLC examination for applying to plus two levels.
- Only BBS is eligible for students who passed their plus two or equivalent level with a minimum of second division recognized by TU in the management stream.
- All other subjects are related to students in the science stream and should pass the higher secondary level with a minimum of second-division marks.
- Diploma-level interested students should have completed the SLC level with a minimum of second-division marks.
- Students should complete a bachelor's degree in microbiology and biotech with a minimum of the second division to be eligible to apply for a master's degree.
- An entrance test is taken by NIST College, and students securing minimum pass marks are listed. Then students are selected according to the merit list.
