Bachelor of Information Technology | nilai university

Overview

While there are comparable courses offered by Nepalese universities, the Bachelor of Information Technology offered by Nilai University is a less intensive program with the same if not better program outcome. Out of context, this might sound oxymoronic. So, let’s expand a little on that in the Program Structure segment.
Nilai University is a Malaysian university that offers Foundation, Diploma, Bachelors’ Degree, Postgraduate programs, and Micro Credentials. The university accepts international applicants. So, students can travel to Malaysia to take up BIT or one of the other programs they offer to get the authentic Malaysian education experience. However, since there is already a college in Nepal that offers the same degree, studying here would be more practical.

Program Structure

As of this writing, the only campus that offers the BIT program by Nilai University is Padmashree College. Although originally Nilai University offered the program as a 3-year 9-semester program, in Nepal, the program offered by Padmashree College is a 4-year 9-semester program including an internship. Much like the conventional programs offered by the universities in Nepal, the BIT program offered by Nilai University also offers 126 credits to students upon completion.

The adjustment to the course curriculum was made so that the students experience less pressure for the duration of the program. Apart from the usual subjects studied during the course, the students have to partake in 2 final-year projects, one worth 2 credits and another worth 4. There is also an internship program in the final year, for which students are awarded 6 credit hours. Should the students wish, they can also take up more free elective subjects for additional credits.

The overall course structure looks something like this:

In fact, the college highlights the addition of these soft skill courses as a strength of their program in their marketing materials.
