Overview

Pokhara University offers a four-year Bachelor of Hotel Management program of 120 credit hours. This program provides training and skill development to meet the needs of management positions for operations in the field of the hotel industry. This program provides a solid foundation of business concepts, managerial and financial skills, and technological skills, along with deep knowledge of hospitality management principles, culinary arts, customer service, hotel operations, and event management departments. It provides internship opportunities and also allows one to understand and broaden the cultural horizon of the global hospitality landscape.

Objectives

Some of the key objectives of the BHM program are as follows:

  • To provide students with a comprehensive understanding of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of hotel management.
  • To enhance students' communication skills, enabling them to effectively interact with guests, colleagues, and stakeholders in the hospitality industry.
  • To develop students' decision-making abilities and critical thinking skills, enabling them to analyze and solve complex problems in hotel management.
  • To foster students' entrepreneurial mindset and skills, encouraging them to identify and seize opportunities in the hospitality and tourism industry.
  • To lay a strong foundation for students to pursue further education, such as postgraduate studies or specialized certifications in the field of hotel management.

Admission Requirements

Eligibility Criteria for Admission:

Candidates who are interested in pursuing the BHM program must fulfill the following criteria:

  1. Completion of +2 or any equivalent intermediate level from colleges recognized by Pokhara University. Attainment of at least 45% or a 2.00 CGPA in the final examination of +2 or its equivalent.
  2. Admission opens in August every year. Candidates must appear in the entrance test conducted by Pokhara University and then proceed to the personal interview.

Required Documents for Admission:

Candidates must submit the following documents along with their application:

  1. Duly filled and signed application form.
  2. Official certificates of SLC (School Leaving Certificate) and +2 or their equivalent.
  3. Two recent passport-size photographs.

Selection Procedure:

 

The selection of candidates is based on the following factors:

  1. Past academic performance.
  2. Score obtained in the entrance test.
  3. Performance in interviews and group discussions.

Fee Structure

The  average fee for a program in Bachelor of Hotel Management typically ranges from NPR 400,000 – NPR 12,00,000, though the exact cost may vary depending on the colleges.
