Overview

Pokhara University offers a four-year Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry program in four years (eight semesters). This program is a 130-credit-hour program that provides study of chemical processes and substances, examining molecules of living beings and how they interact and contribute to biological functions. It provides theoretical and practical knowledge from elements of biotechnology, immunology, molecular biology, clinical microbiology, physiology, and human anatomy. It also provides proficiency in computer tools for research and data analysis and develops analytical and critical thinking abilities. This program will also allow
practical work, research projects, and thesis work from the pedagogy.

Objectives of BSc Biochemistry

The major purpose of the Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry degree is to prepare graduates for technical and scientific roles in sectors such as biomedical research institutes. Upon completion of this program, students are expected to:

  • Understand the foundations of biology, chemistry, and the principles of molecular biology and biochemistry.
  • Possess the capability to work safely and efficiently in a laboratory setting.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing computers as research and information tools.

Admission Requirements in BSc Biochemistry

Eligibility Criteria:

Students with a +2 level or ISC degree, with first division marks in the biological and physical group, are eligible to apply for the Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry program. Applicants should appear in an entrance test conducted by the university and participate in a personal interview.
