Overview
Pokhara University offers a four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, which aims to prepare nurses by providing skills and techniques in nursing, applied health science and models, decision-making, and rational judgment in leadership roles for quality health care at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. It provides nursing study and knowledge in areas of pediatric, psychiatric, geriatric, and obstetrical nursing services.
Objectives of BSc Nursing
The major objectives of BSc Nursing program for students are listed below:
- To conduct and to participate in various research activities
- To communicate effectively with patients as well as with medical team members
- To enhance decision making skills
- To train to act within professional ethics
- To deal with multiple health management issues
Admission Requirements in BSc Nursing
Must pass entrance exam from Medical Education Commission called Medical Education Common Entrance Examination of 200 full marks, which carries one mark for each correct answer and -0.25 for a wrong answer, of three hours duration.

The scope of this course is growing with each passing days. BSc Nursing program opens door to a number of job options in diverse sectors, such as armed forces, schools, voluntary organizations, universities, health service, clinics, private and public hospitals and healthcare providers. Graduates can opt to work as children's nurse, health visitor, high-intensity therapist, midwife, physician associate, mental health nurse, and adult nurse. They even have the option to work as lecturer, counselor, social worker and health service manager.
