Overview

Purbanchal University Faculty of Science and Technology offers a Bachelor of Science Honors in Agriculture. This program provides knowledge of agriculture and veterinary science with field field-based internship program. This program will allow you to understand the concepts of sustainable agriculture, horticulture, soil science, livestock production and management, development studies, agro-economics, business management, and plant protection. It is a crucial field of study that provides knowledge on food production and the economic development of a nation. It provides knowledge of agriculture research, development, advocacy, and technology in this field used for sustainable crop and livestock production.

Objectives of BSc Agriculture

This degree aims to produce professionals with entry-level competencies in technical agriculture. Some of the specific objectives of this program are listed below:

  • To enable students to conduct training in agricultural extension.
  • To prepare students to pursue further education in the related field.
  • To conduct and participate in agricultural research program.
  • To enable students to teach agriculture in school, agriculture institutes and teacher training academy.

Admission Requirements in BSc Agriculture

Candidate willing to study Bachelor of Science in Agriculture must have to complete 10+2 or ISc (Agriculture) or A-Level or equivalent degree having studied 100 marks each of English, Chemistry and Biology, and at least 50 marks each of Math and Physics with a minimum of 50 percent in aggregate from PU or institutions/ board/ University recognized by PU.

Entrance exam for Bachelor of Science in Agriculture:

  • Time duration: 2 hours, Total marks: 160, multiple choice objective questions
  • 25 marks for each subject in Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, English, Math and 10 marks in General Agriculture
  • Merit list is published after the entrance with 80% marks of Entrance, 10% of SLC and 10% of Intermediate level.

Fee Structure

The total fee for a Bachelor of Science in Agreculture in Nepal typically ranges from NPR 11,00,000 to NPR 12,00,000, depending on the college and its facilities.

Career and Scope

This course gives students knowledge and skills, which is required to manage agricultural business, food production, agricultural sales and farming journalism, preparing them to work in the related field. Beside this, graduates with this degree can also work in nonprofit organizations, such as NGO, INGO or also can serve as an officer in the government departments.
