Master's in Development Communication | PU

Overview

Purbanchal University offers a two-year Master in Development Communication program. This program will provide the application of mass media to increase the existing developmental process. It provides understanding from theories and models of development, teaches practical skills and values in development, and solves the issues that impede the progress in underdeveloped societies. It also provides research methods in mass communication, use of radio programs, traditional folk media for development, photography, communication campaigns, public relations, television and video, science and environmental journalism, and international developmental communication and their optimum utilization.

Objective

The major objectives of Master's in Development Communication course for the students are given below:
  • To provide the knowledge of principles and functions of communication and to apply it for the development procedure
  • To be familiar with the problems existing in the society and be capable of solving them
  • To enhance the skills through various practical sessions
  • To learn basic skills to conduct research in various areas of development.

Admission Requirements

Students holding graduate or post-graduate degree in any field with minimum of 50% score are eligible to apply for this course. Applicants are ought to collect admission form within the office hour (7 am to 10 am). The admission form should be filled properly. Along with the admission form, applicants are required to submit following documents:
  • Verified copies of the Graduation/ Post-Graduation Mark sheet
  • Verified copy of School Leaving Certificate
  • Two recent passport size photographs not older than 3 months
Admission is totally based on merit list. Candidates must have to attend the entrance examination held by Purbanchal University (PU). Candidates, who qualify in the written test can proceed with the admission procedure. The college session starts in the month of Magh every year.
