Overview

Business has been the backbone of the economy in every part of the current world. Program management of these businesses is important for the consistent growth of a company. The Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) program was launched to equip students with all the necessary leadership and management skills to run the corporate world.
The BBM program at Tribhuvan University falls under the Faculty of Management. This program has been designed to provide all the essential education, proficiencies, and self-confidence to learners so that they can work as business leaders or managers in the future. The course content of this program has been adopted so that graduates can adjust to the regular changes and competitiveness of the global business.
 

Objectives of Bachelor of Business Management

The objectives of the Bachelor of Business Management program of Tribhuvan University are

  • To develop in-depth knowledge of business for aspiring managers and business leaders with industry-based learned principles and key functions.
  • To expand the knowledge beyond classrooms to real-life scenarios with research and internship work, seminars, and projects to apply learned knowledge in real-life working conditions and grow in these fields.
  • To develop specialized areas of knowledge applications in Banking, Sales and Marketing, cooperatives, insurance and risk, Entrepreneurship and enterprise development applications of business management fields.
  • To gain interdisciplinary knowledge and skills from areas of microeconomics, mathematics, English, and social sciences as a pillar of developments in business sectors.

Program Structure

The BBM program of TU is a semester-wise program. There are a total of 8 semesters with 4 years’ duration. Students have to study a total of 40 subjects in total plus one project report or internship. The total credit hours of this program at TU is 120. The course content of the BBM program has been designed in such a way that students can continue their academic journey or start their professional lives as managers or entrepreneurs.
 

Specializations

The BBM program of TU provides students with 4 major areas to specialize in. These areas are referred to as focus areas. Students have to study five subjects from one of the focus areas they choose. Before finalizing the focus area, pupils should take guidance from a career counselor. There are nine elective subjects offered for pupils in this program. They have to select one elective subject in the 7th and two elective subjects in the 8th semester of this program. These subjects are designed to enhance their ability in their respective focus areas. Learners should understand which course will add value to their ongoing focus areas before selecting these electives. The list of subjects in each focus area is as follows:

Admission Requirements

Students must graduate plus two levels of education from the board that are recognized by the Nepal education board to get admission to the BBM program at TU. The selection of the prospective students is conducted in three parts: a written test and a personal interview. Out of two, CMAT is conducted by FOM, TU, and an interview is conducted by respective colleges. However, students should score cut-off marks to be enlisted for an interview. Out of the total selection marks, 60% is based on the CMAT score, 30% is based on plus two aggregate scores, and 10% is based on personal interviews. Prospective learners need to fill out and submit the application form for the CMAT examination.

CMAT
Students need to pass the CMAT examination to be eligible to get admission to the BBM program affiliated with TU. The CMAT examination tests the verbal ability, quantitative ability, logical reasoning, and general awareness of students. This test is similar to the SAT format. Students should meet the following criteria to take part in the CMAT examination:

  1. Participants need to complete 12 years of school or the equivalent from a board recognized by Tribhuvan University.
  2. Students need to score at least a D+ grade in each subject of grades 11 and 12 with a minimum aggregate grade of 1.8.
  3. Students from PCL must score a minimum of second division.

[Note: Students whose 11th or 12th results have not been published can also apply for CMAT. However, they need to show passed certification during admission.
 

Eligibility

Must have completed Plus Two or equivalent from any board, university, or institution known by TU with a GPA of 1.8 and a minimum grade of D or a minimum grade of D+with a CGPA of 1.8 or more for those who have passed in 2078 or secured at least a minimum second division in Plus Two and must comply with all application processes.

After successfully passing out from the BBM program at TU, students can continue their academy by pursuing an MBA or MBM. Since this program has been designed as per the demand of the current job market, graduates can explore various professional roles. Some of these roles are as follows:

  1. Business Consultants: In this job role, they have to provide suggestions regarding the plan's formulation and its execution to grow the business. Additionally, they have to advise on implementing changes in the company for the long run.
  2. Finance Managers: Employed in this job, they have to make decisions on the requirements of the funds and develop efficient ways to utilize the available funds.
  3. Human Resource Manager: In this job role, they have to hire and recruit employees, provide effective training for newly hired employees, prepare guidelines for employees, monitor the performance of the employees, and set up a healthy work environment.
