Bachelor of Education in Information Communication Technology | TU

BEd ICT (Bachelor of Education in Information Communication Technology) is an undergraduate program offered by Tribhuvan University under the faculty of Education. It is a three-year semester-based program spanning over nine semesters, covering a total of 138 credit hours. The program includes 12 credit hours for communication skills courses, 24 credit hours for educational core courses, 60 credit hours for specialization in major subjects, 30 credit hours for minor subjects, and 9 credit hours for teaching internship/practicum.

The BEd in Information Communication Technology program is designed to acquaint students with modern education systems and computer science, emphasizing the use of information and communication technology. The program covers subjects such as Information Technology, C/C++ Programming, Psychology, Fundamentals and Technology in Education, Java Programming Language, Database Management System, Data Communication, and Artificial Intelligence.

Objectives of Bachelor of Education in Information Communication Technology

The list of objectives of Bachelor of Education in Information Communication Technology program are as follows:

  • To prepare students for higher studies at the Master's level in the fields of Education, ICT, or related disciplines.
  • To provide students with a comprehensive and extensive understanding of Computer Science and Information Communication Technology concepts, including programming, algorithms, database management systems, management information systems, data structures, computer graphics, cyber law, artificial intelligence, and other relevant ICT subjects.
  • To equip students with theoretical knowledge that fosters a deeper understanding and familiarity with practical tools and techniques used in the development of computer system software and technology.
  • To prepare successful ICT graduates for careers in their desired fields or ICT-related professions such as computer teachers at higher levels, software application developers, system administrators, web programmers, database administrators, web developers, network administrators, and more.
  • To develop proficient and passionate human resources equipped with qualitative and quantitative information technology skills for application in the development of the education sector.
  • To help students improve their intellectual and analytical abilities, decision-making skills, and leadership qualities, enabling them to carry out, analyze, and execute plans and policies for the overall development of the education sector, utilizing the potential of information technology.

Admission Requirements in Bachelor of Education in Information Communication Technology

Eligibility criteria for admission:

The eligibility criteria for admission of Bachelor of Education in Information Communication Technology program are as follows:

  1. Applicants must have completed their 10+2 (Higher Secondary Education Board) or an equivalent level certificate.
  2. The minimum required aggregate percentage for admission is 45%.
  3. Alternatively, applicants should have obtained at least grade D in three subjects in the Advance Level from any Board/University recognized by Tribhuvan University.

Admission procedure:

  1. Collecting the Application Form: The application form can be obtained directly from the reception of the affiliated Campus or downloaded from their official website on the designated dates specified for the admission process.
  2. Completing the Application: Fill in the application form with the required information. Make sure to attach photocopies of the relevant mark sheets and include the specified cash amount or payable deposit slip in the name or account of the affiliated Campus.
  3. Submission of Application: Submit the filled-in application form along with the necessary documents before the specified due date mentioned in the calendar of events provided by the affiliated Campus.
  4. Form Processing and Shortlisting: After the submission of application forms, the campus will process the forms and shortlist candidates based on the eligibility criteria and merit.
  5. Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview as part of the selection process. The interview helps assess the candidate's suitability for the program.
  6. Submission of Required Documents: Once selected, candidates must submit the required documents during the admission process. These documents may include a character certificate, Secondary Education Examination (SEE) or equivalent mark sheet, 10+2 (HSEB) or equivalent transcript, migration certificate, photographs for ID card and campus records, and a copy of the citizenship certificate or passport (for foreign students).
