Overview

The Bachelor of Education in Information Communication Technology is a program offered by the Faculty of Education of Tribhuvan University. Like the more popular specializations of the Bachelor of Education program, the BEd ICT program is also designed to train the students to become educators in the days to come. Albeit, the content being covered in this program is also meant to educate the students of the program about various domains of the information and communication technology sphere.
Another major difference of this program when contrasted with the more conventional BEd program is that the BEd ICT program is imparted over a semester system and not in the usual academic year basis.
 

Program Structure

The BEd ICT program at TU is a eight semester program despite sharing the namesake with the more popular 4-year BEd program that still subscribes to the orthodox annual system. The BEd ICT program is comprised of eight core areas of study and emphasizes the study of math and analytical courses besides the usual education and specialization disciplines. The overall course amounts to a total of 132 credits. The students are to study 44 individual courses including electives and each course is worth 3 credits.
The for the first half of the program students must study six courses per semester and five courses in the latter half. The full breakdown of the courses are as follows:

The eligibility criteria for the BEd ICT is not as intimidating as the program structure might seem to suggest. The eligibility criteria is as follows:

  • Applicants must have completed their 10+2 (Higher Secondary Education Board) or an equivalent level certificate.
  • The minimum required aggregate percentage for admission is 45%.
  • Alternatively, applicants should have obtained at least grade D in three subjects in the Advance Level from any Board/University recognized by Tribhuvan University.
     

Specializations

The BEd ICT is already an amazingly put together course that educates young minds about the developments in the information and communication technology, and how that technology can be leveraged to make learning more effective.
