Objectives of Master in Data Science

The graduate has knowledge and the skills not only in managing data security, but they also have skills to cleanse, secure and manipulate the data to get information. Some other objectives of the programme are:
- To produce skilled individuals who collect, clean, store and query data from a variety of private and public data sources.
- To produce skilled graduates who assess, evaluate and respond to decision-making needs and requirements.
- To prepare a trained individual who can apply appropriate analytic techniques to provide estimates that support decision-making and action.
- To prepare a skilled data communicator who can communicate actionable information in written, oral and visual formats.
- To prepare qualified human resources who can analyse present trend and help predict the future.
Admission Requirements in Master in Data Science
To enroll in the Master in Data Science program at Tribhuvan University, candidates must meet the following academic requirements:
- A quantitative and computational background in Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Statistics.
- Eligible degrees: BSc (CSIT), BSc (Math), Bachelor’s in Mathematical Science, BSc (Statistics), BA (Math).
- Graduates of BE, BIT, and BCA with at least 2 Mathematics and 1 Statistics course are also eligible.
Eligibility
Candidates who meet the academic qualification must collect, fill and submit the entrance examination form along with other supporting documents. The aspiring candidate must score a good grade on the entrance examination administered by the Department of Mathematics. The format of the entrance examination is given below:
- Full Marks: 100
- Pass Marks: 35
- Nature of question: MCQ
- Time: 2 hours

Fee Structure
The total cost for the Master in Data Science program over eight semesters ranges between NPR 500,000 – 600,000. Students pay a portion of the fee during admission, with the remaining amount payable in installments at the start of each semester.
Scholarships :
- One male and one female student will be awarded merit-based scholarships.
- Additionally, 10% of enrolled students will receive full scholarships
