Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery

College of Medical Science runs a five-year six months program Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery of Kathmandu University. This program provides knowledge of basic medical science, clinical science and clinical medicine by rotation with medical specialties and internship in final years. 

Bachelor of Pharmacy

KU Affiliated

College of Medical Sciences offers Bachelor of Pharmacy program of Kathmandu University. It provides knowledge and skills in preparation, dispensing and appropriate use of medication to achieve therapeutic outcomes. 

BSc Nursing

KU Affiliated

Bachelor of Science Nursing is a four year program of Kathmandu University at College of Medical Science. It provides preventive, promotive, curative, rehabilitative aspects of human health through holistic approach and Public health commission approach in nursing practices. It equips competencies and knowledge of nursing sciences to work independently or as multidisciplinary health team members.

Bachelor of Dental Surgery

KU Affiliated

College of Medical Science offers a five year six months full time Bachelor of Dental Surgery program of Kathmandu University. This program produces well rounded dental graduates who have completed four and half years of study and one year of rotating internship. This program provides knowledge and skills of general dental practices, appropriate standard of patient care, higher training in the specialty of dental practice, from courses of studies of general medical science, oral structure function and development, oral pathogenesis and disease prevention, oral function sciences and rehabilitation, general dentistry.

The College of Medical Sciences is a medical school located in Bharatpur, Chitwan. The college has undergone a lot of changes and modifications to the need-based health care system of Nepal since its establishment on August 8, 1993. With the modern concept of globalization in healthcare education as well as hospital care for patients, the College of Medical Sciences has endeavored to educate undergraduates to produce healthcare personnel of high quality. This institution is the premiere medical college in the heart of Nepal, besides having very eminent and experienced faculty who are endowed with international fame and indulge in a curriculum that is student-centered and has learning objectives for a wide range of subjects. The curriculum is horizontally and vertically integrated, and passive lectures are meager. Problem-based learning is emphasized and encouraged among the students. Presently, the College of Medical Sciences boasts highly qualified and experienced faculty, mostly from neighboring countries, and already five batches have passed out, and there are now four batches of students on the rolls from various regions of Nepal, India, and SAARC countries.

Being one of the foremost medical colleges in Chitwan, the College of Medical Sciences continuously seeks improvement and evolves itself every year to meet the demands of the changing world with the following objectives:

  • To produce quality clinicians and able managers for primary level well-being and facilitate bringing in optimum health care services required for the local community right at their doorsteps.
  • To produce clinicians of specialties to provide appropriate and correct health delivery systems.
  • To assist the government in promoting and standardizing healthcare education and producing appropriate manpower for the fulfillment of its obligation to the community.
  • To make future doctors understand the psycho-social needs of the community and conduct research, thus making them capable of pursuing postgraduate courses and developing cost-effective health services.
  • To prepare the students to understand and promote other systems of medicine and to develop and appreciate the philosophical and ethical values of this medicine.
  • To prepare the College of Medical Sciences to take an active part in building the health care delivery system of Nepal in general and the Chitwan district in particular.

Facilities

The College of Medical Sciences offers a central library with a serene atmosphere and air-conditioned facilities. Fully equipped with reference books apart from national and international journals. Apart from this, the library and all the departments are connected to the internet and have special access to more than 17000 full-text medical journals. A personalized information service and photocopying facilities are also available. College of Medical Sciences has 7 lecture halls, each of which can accommodate over 150 students and is fully equipped with furniture and the latest audio-visual instruments. The lecture halls are well-ventilated and have enough natural light.

Besides this, the College of Medical Sciences also offers quality accommodation facilities in the form of separate hostels for boys and girls. The rooms are always kept clean and are looked after by an experienced hostel warden. One vehicle is always placed on campus to meet emergency needs and to take students and staff to the hospital in case it is required. The hostels also provide good and affordable canteen facilities that serve various types of food items, such as Nepali, South Indian, North Indian, Chinese, Continental, and others. College of Medical Sciences also has modern indoor and outdoor playgrounds for the all-round development of the students, and also provides special facilities for Yoga and Gymnasiums. Finally, there is a fleet of buses and other vehicles for the college and hospital to transport students, faculty, and staff.
