Q. HOW IS FOODMANDU DIFFERENT FROM OTHER CHAIN STORES?
Unlike other food chains, we don’t involve in preparing food ourselves but deliver food from wide range of restaurants in Kathmandu & Lalitpur. We are the first company in Nepal that was established in 2010 with the innovative concept of connecting foodies with the most popular restaurants in the city and delivering customer’s orders at their door-step. About 200 restaurants are associated with Foodmandu at the moment.

 

Q. HOW DID YOU START THIS IDEA? DID YOU HAVE A PLAN BECAUSE THERE ARE MANY GROCERY AND FOOD CHAIN OUTLET?
While working for an IT Company in Kathmandu, Mr. Manohar Adhikari, CEO of Foodmandu Pvt Ltd always felt the need for trustworthy food delivery services. He had such a tight schedule that he often skipped his breakfast. It was unimaginable for him to visit a restaurant for food due to time constraint. Feeling the need for the reliable food delivery services and also with an urge to do something unique in the field of e- commerce focusing on local market, Mr. Manohar Adhikari  launched Foodmandu Pvt Ltd in November 2010.

 

Q. WHO ARE YOUR POTENTIAL AND TARGET GROUP OF CUSTOMERS AND WHY?
We deliver food from our member restaurants to individuals at homes and offices. It can be to the groups of people who don’t have time to cook, to the group of people who craves for cuisines from top restaurant but don’t have time to pay the visit, to parties, gatherings, seminars, meetings or lunch at offices.

 

Q. IS FOODMANDU A SUSTAINABLE SELLING PROPOSITION IN THE LONG RUN? HAVE YOU DONE MARKET RESEARCH BEFORE STARTUP?
Before we kicked off, I remember crunching the numbers, doing extensive research to figure out if we could sustain this business. I did a lot of homework before we began and I had already realized back then that it was going to take a lot of patience and determination. But I believed in our concept and that it would work in our community. This was an important factor. It’s been seven years since we have been working hard on this idea. 

 

Q. WHAT DOES INNOVATION MEAN TO YOU AND HOW NECESSARY IS IT FOR YOUR COMPANY?
For an e-commerce company like Foodmandu, innovation is a major tool. We need to be innovative in what we do to offer our vendors, customers and clients with unique ideas and services. It is essential in the continuous learning process to improve our service quality and ultimately for the company growth.
