The Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is held annually after the announcement of Grade XII results to enroll new students who aspire to pursue any of the many courses provided by the Faculty of Management TU.

CMAT is a common test for students that assesses their aptitude and reasoning, and all students must enroll in programs offered by FoM. This test is highly competitive evaluating students' aptitude and caliber for admission. Only after successfully taking this test with good grades do students gain admission to their desired college.

Programs that require Central Management Admission Test

Eligibility

Any candidates wishing to appear for CMAT to enroll in programmes offered by FoM should first satisfy the following conditions:

  • A minimum grade of D in each subject with a CGPA of 1.8 in Grades 11 and 12. Applicants can also apply for CMAT if they are awaiting grade 12 results.

or

  • A minimum D+ in each subject with a CGPA of 1.8 for students who passed Grades 11 and 12 in 2078 or before 2078.

or

  • A minimum second division mark in 10+2, PCL, or equivalent in any discipline.

Format

Format of CMAT exam is:

  • No. of questions: MCQ-based 100 questions.
  • Full Marks: 100
  • Pass Marks: At least 40 (however preference is given to high-scoring cadidates)
  • Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Exam charge: Rs. 1000
  • Late Charge: N/A
  • Marking Scheme: None negative.
  • Exam Type: Paper-based.

Documents Required

  • Marksheets for grades 10, 11, and 12 (Applicants can also apply for CMAT if they are awaiting grade 12 results).

  • Character certificate of grade 10.

Syllabus

CMAT contains one hundred (100) objective questions with four options. It has four primary areas and each area carries a 25% weightage. The test includes the following:

  • Verbal Ability: Verbal ability is English language fluency testing in CMAT which includes vocabulary, synonyms and antonyms, suitable prepositions, Idioms and phrases, and passages and questions.

  • Quantitative Ability: It checks the mathematical skill of students in probability, ratio and proportions, statistics, commission, taxation and VAT, matrix and determinants, and so on.

  • Logical Reasoning: This test examines the reasoning ability of students including types of relation, odd one-out arguments and flow chart, pure logic, common sense logic, guest logic, etc.

  • General Awareness: Assess the General Knowledge (GK) of students in diverse fields like current affairs, business and economy, sports, politics, management theories, science, literature, interesting facts, and others.

Mode of Examination

 

The CMAT entrance exam consists of both a written exam and an interview.

 

  • Written Exam:

The 90-minute CMAT exam consists of 100 objective questions containing twenty (25) questions in each section with a total weight of 100 marks. The students must secure at least 40% to qualify for the examinations.

 

  • Interview:

The colleges running the program also conduct individual presentations and interviews to select suitable candidates. Applicants securing the above cut-off point marks in the CMAT will be short-listed. Then the shortlisted candidates will be interviewed and selected for admission.

Merit List

Admissions will be strictly based on the merit list. The merit list is prepared based on:

  • 60% of marks secured in the CMAT Entrance examination;

  • 30% of marks secured in percentage in plus two or equivalent;

  • 10% Interview.

Admit Card

The CMAT Admit Card can be collected from the respective college administration where the students had submitted their application form or the Admit Card can be downloaded from the website of the TU Faculty of Management. The downloaded copy of the Admit Card must be verified by the college where students submitted the form.

Exam Center

The students will be notified about the Exam Centre by the colleges while they collect CMAT Admit Cards. The Exam Centre will be set according to the symbol number provided on the Admit Card, the students are expected to appear in the respective assigned exam center set as per the symbol number.
