Karnali Academy of Health Science was established on October 20, 2011. It provides quality health care and education to the remote and backward areas of Nepal such as Humla, Jumla, Kalikot, Dolpa, and Mugu districts. It is an autonomous health Science University that gives innovations in education, Practice, research work, and scholarships for Nepalese students of the aforementioned areas. The Guiding principles of this organization are the value, strength of a shared mission and vision of planning activities, highest ethical principles, good governance, and quality improvement, and meet the education and health needs of marginalized communities.
The academic programs at Karnali Academy of Health Sciences are School of Public health, School of Nursing, and School of Medicine. The programs offered by this University under the above categories are Bachelor of Public health, Bachelor in Midwifery, PCL Nursing Staff nurse, Graduate program such as MDGP proposed, Undergraduate program such as MBBS, PCL in General level medicine and a Certificate level program.
Karnali Academy of Health Science is concerned with fundraising works, sponsorship, donation, and volunteer work from outside to support their common health and education reach to the deprived regions. The sister organization of Karnali Academy of Health Science is Karnali Academy Teaching hospital. This hospital provides full-fledged health services such as emergency, outpatients, inpatients, OT, Maternity, diagnostic, blood bank, community health services, ambulance, telemedicine, and Post OP care. The teaching hospital also provides training and internship for students of the medical field of the above programs.
It is also engaged with research work for groundbreaking scientific discoveries. The name Karnali Academy of Health Science has derived from Karnali River. It is the biggest and longest river of Nepal.
The Faculty Members of Karnali Academy of Health Science have Associate Professor, Professors, and Head of Department, lecturers, Assistant Professors of different faculties and disciplines to provide holistic and innovative health science education to students of Karnali and remote regions.
