About the institution

Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS) is an independent institution founded in 2011, serving remote areas of Nepal. It offers quality healthcare and education in regions like Humla, Jumla, Kalikot, Dolpa, and Mugu. This institution mainly aims on collaborative efforts, ethical principles, and good governance. It provides comprehensive programs in health sciences, emphasizing practical training, research, and community literacy. KAHS aims to meet the education and health needs of marginalized communities. Through partnerships and innovative approaches, this institution tries it best to bridge gaps and empower the people it serves.

Karnali Academy of Health Science is concerned with fundraising works, sponsorship, donation, and volunteer work from outside to support their common health and education reach to the deprived regions. The sister organization of Karnali Academy of Health Science is Karnali Academy Teaching hospital. This hospital provides full-fledged health services such as emergency, outpatients, inpatients, OT, Maternity, diagnostic, blood bank, community health services, ambulance, telemedicine, and Post OP care.

Academic Programs

The academic programs at Karnali Academy of Health Sciences are

School of Public health,
School of Nursing, and
School of Medicine.

The programs offered by this University under the above categories are Bachelor of Public health provided to promote and maintain health across the population in a four years program.

Under School of Nursing they have Bachelor in Midwifery of three years including internship,

PCL Nursing Staff nurse of minimum three academic years to produce self reliant and competant health care professionals for communities.

Under School of Medicine there are:

Graduate program such as MDGP proposed,
Undergraduate program such as MBBS,
PCL in General level of three academic years running in a limited number of 40 seats

The teaching hospital also provides training and internship for students of the medical field of the above programs.

It is also engaged with research work for groundbreaking scientific discoveries. The name Karnali Academy of Health Science has been derived from Karnali River. It is the biggest and longest river of Nepal.
