Council of Technical Education and Vocational training Nepal published new admission process for Diploma and Certificate courses of 2082-83

Council of Technical Education and Vocational Training Nepal has published a notice about a new process for taking admission in Diploma and Certificate courses of 2082-83. In this system, the traditional entrance exam center has been eliminated by CTEVT. Instead, from now it will be according to the merit list derived from applicants’ performance in the SEE exam from their obtained Grade Point Average.

Under the Unified Online Application system, a single unified online application will be used which will include classified free scholarships, special scholarships (Dalits, Muslim and marginalized communities), full paying programs and industrial trainee programs.

From the criteria of merit basis application, merit list will be created from SEE grade points of students and granted which, earlier was solely on entrance exam result basis.

Weighted Scoring for Merit List will be on the application in the SEE Grade Point:

1 point added to their grade point for students who passed their SEE from a community (public) school

0.85 points added to their grade point for students who passed their SEE from an institutional (private) school

For the case of Tie-Breaking Rule: 

If two or more applicants have the same final score, priority will be determined as per higher grade point in Compulsory Mathematics, science and English.

If a tie still persists, preference will be given to applicants who have completed their SEE from a remote/underdeveloped region which are designated.

There is also a provision for classified (free) scholarships whose applications are open only to students completing their SEE from community schools.

Why is this new system brought?

From this notice of the new system of taking admissions, in Certificate and Diploma programs of CTEVT because, this change aims to make the admission process faster, more transparent, and more efficient. 

From the SEE results, which already have evaluated students' proficiency in subjects like English, Math, and Science, CTEVT can save time and resources previously spent on conducting separate entrance exams. This new system is also expected to benefit students by saving them the time and expense to arrive at exam centers and give entrance exams for hours. Furthermore, it is believed that this new admission mechanism will streamline the admission process, fill quotas more effectively, and allow the examination office to focus on their regular academic calendar. Which will give more room for improving the academic performance in SEE result for studying in the Pre diploma, Diploma and Certificate level programs for students.
