The Woolwich Institute, Dubai Has Officially Opened

The Woolwich Institute, a brand new College in Dubai that is owned by the British Education Group, held an inauguration ceremony on 19thFebruary 2022 to mark its official opening.

The British Education Group (BEG) has been in operation since 2003, and boasts educational institutions across London and Nepal, including The British College (TBC) in Kathmandu. The Woolwich Institute (TWI) is now their first establishment in Dubai.

This is a particularly proud achievement for TBC and the Nepali members of The British Education Group, as there has long been a history of Nepali workers and traders in the UAE. And now, with this new development, investment in the education sector for Nepalese can finally begin.

In honor of its official opening, TWI organized an inauguration ceremony at the Conference Centre in Knowledge Village. The honorable Chief Guest, the Earl of Limerick, opened the proceedings by saying, “Change in education is the need of the hour, and we must ensure students are equipped with all the skills required for future job situations”.

He was then followed by the Executive Chairman, Mr Rajen Kandel, who stated that, “Quality education at affordable prices is imperative to build a better future, and we will work hard towards achieving that”.

Many special guests were also in attendance, including the Principal, Mike Griffiths; Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of Nepal, Mr Bishal Bhattarai; Director of the British Education Group, Mahendra Raj Kandel; and Advisory to the board, Dr Khaled Henkir, who said, “I am extremely focused on working towards change management in the Middle East, in order to ensure that students are ready for a new future”.

Along with the special guests that were in attendance, there were also senior officials from the Ministry of Happiness, the Department of Immigration, the Saudi German Hospital, Amazon, Home Box, and various schools and other educational institutes.

The event was a great opportunity for attendees to learn about the extensive range of courses on offer and see the state-of-the-art campus for the first time. Centrally located in Knowledge Village, the campus is close to a host of leading business hubs, including Dubai Media City, Dubai Internet City, Dubai Marina, and Palm Jumeirah - which provide a wealth of opportunities for TWI students. It also boasts a world class cafeteria and modern amenities, offering the students both luxury and comfort at affordable prices.

The event was also a chance for everyone to network and hear about TWI’s ambitious plans to substantially increase recruitment, both in the UAE and overseas, and learn of their goal to give students from TBC the opportunity to transfer and complete their studies in Dubai.
