World Record at Dashrath Stadium: Tribhuvan University's 49th Convocation Program

Tribhuvan University in Nepal has set a Guinness World Record for hosting the most guests at a convocation event held on 18th December, 2023 (2nd Poush, 2080). TU received a certificate from the Official World Record (OWR) for organizing a remarkable in-person program that gathered over 26,000 participants, including parents, award recipients, guests, and graduate students.

Tribhuvan University conducted its 49th convocation ceremony in the presence of President Ramchandra Paudel and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal (also the Chancellor). The event took place at Dashrath Stadium, Kathmandu where a total of 12,415 students received the graduation certificate.

According to the officials of Tribhuvan University, a total of 73,749 students were eligible for graduation on the 49th convocation day. However, a total of 12,415: 8,098 towards the Bachelor's degree, 4,104 towards the Master's degree, 44 for MPhil, and 112 for the PhD applied for it.

Due to the large number of admissions for the 49th convocation ceremony, TU decided to conduct the program at Dashrath Stadium. For the same reason, the officials applied to the Guinness Book of World Records, claiming to graduate the highest number of students in the world.
