The various programs are as follows:

Master of Arts in Sociology

TU Affiliated

Master of Art in Sociology is two years, four semesters program of Central Department of Sociology Tribhuvan University. It imparts knowledge and theories of sociology with field-based research and analysis of secondary data. It provides skilled human resources for development and also reinforces human rights and social justice and re-ordering.

Bachelor of Arts in Sociology

TU Affiliated

Tribhuvan University Central department of Sociology offers a four year Bachelor of Art in Sociology. This program provides theoretical and practical learnings in areas of social perspectives, methods and approaches, underlying social structure and dynamics, dynamics of Nepalese society and serves the country’s developmental aspirations.

Master of Philosophy in Sociology

TU Affiliated

It is a postgraduate degree program in Sociology. It is a three semesters course with a selection of larger perspectives of the subject such as macro sociology, social inquiry, social movement, poverty, social inclusion and exclusion, economic development, gender, public policy, globalization, markets, state and its ethnicity and identity topics of study and research fields.

PhD in Sociology

TU Affiliated

It is a five year program of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Science. It provides knowledge of sociological theories and methodologies, field work training and secondary data analysis to research and create policies for Nepal’s development requisition. There will be dissertation, viva voce exams.

Master of Art Anthropology

TU Affiliated

Master of Arts in Anthropology is a two years four semester program of Faculty of Humanities and Social Science at Central department of Anthropology. It provides knowledge of human societies, culture and their development on theory, ethnographic research and applied anthropology with advanced anthropological training in ethnographic fieldwork. It offers specialized areas of study in kinship, ethnographic anthropology, medical, disaster and development anthropologies, gender and feminism, historic anthropology, climate changes studies.

Master of Philosophy in Anthropology

It is a one year two semesters program with dissertation research. The program provides fairly high level specialist knowledge from anthropology theories, regional ethnographies, human rights multiculturalism and demography, development, political organization and process, economic and research based views.

Bachelor of Art in Anthropology

TU Affiliated

This is a four year program of Tribhuvan University. It provides introductory knowledge of anthropology studies, its scope and significance of culture and humanity. The topics cover introduction, theoretical perspectives of anthropology, theory in the context of Nepal and in the context of development, research methods, human ecology and resource management, along with demographic and inclusions in the learning outcomes. 

PhD in Anthropology

TU Affiliated

Central department of Anthropology/Sociology offers PhD in Anthropology is a three semesters program of Faculty of Humanities and Social Science of Tribhuvan University. It comprises theoretical and practical knowledge of anthropology, ethnography, perspectives of state change and development, readings in contemporary South Asia, critical studies, practical research design and writing, common research methods, literature review and thesis writing works. This program is administered by the Dean's office.

Central Department of Sociology and Anthropology is the largest teaching department at Tribhuvan University. It has received a Institutional Development grant from Wenner Gren Foundation for Anthropological research for five years. More than five hundred students have enrolled for Masters program in Sociology and Anthropology. This course is made available from the Central department to 18 Constituent Campuses and 15 Affiliated Colleges of Tribhuvan University.
