Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering Course, BAE 4 Year Program

Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering

The field of engineering which deals with the structures, fluid flows, and propulsion of aircraft and spacecraft is adapted as Aerospace Engineering. This field of engineering has been abundantly utilized in the aviation, military, and defense systems of the country.

The Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering course deals with educating students with various principles of Aerodynamics, fluid flow, working of aircraft, and various other principles related to aircraft and spacecraft.

Overview

BE in Aerospace ensures the foundation of students in math and natural science become strong. Secondly, the Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering is teaching students to apply math, science, and technology to design, simulate, and various elements related to aircraft and space technology.

From traveling to national security to space exploration BE Aerospace covers wide areas and is extremely important for any country.

BE Aerospace Course in Nepal

During our childhood, we saw a flying aircraft over our heads, and we dreamt of constructing an aircraft in the future. Among many of those dreamers, only a few pursue a career in aerospace engineering due to their adamant interest in this field.

Students were facing difficulties in traveling abroad to pursue a career in BE in Aerospace until 2075 B.S. In 2075/76, when the Institute of Engineering(IOE) started the course of BE in Aerospace under the affiliation of Tribhuvan University(TU), many students felt fortunate to be able to pursue a bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace in Nepal.

Regarding Nepal, BE in Aerospace is a relatively new discipline of engineering that has been designed to produce aerospace engineers who will be able to contribute to the progress and development of the aviation industry.

General Information about BE Aerospace Course

BE in Aerospace is a four-year undergraduate course and this four years is divided into eight semesters. The total credit hours for a Bachelor in Aerospace Engineering is 246.

As of now, only the Pulchowk campus which is a Tribhuvan University-affiliated campus is providing the Bachelor in Aerospace Engineering course to students. So, each year only 48 students are getting the opportunity to study BE in Aerospace in Nepal.

This course ensures that students get an in-depth understanding of the physical application of various principles of mathematics, physical science, computer programming, and aerodynamics. The students are not only provided with theoretical studies but also with industrial exposure.

Students gain practical knowledge and first-hand experience from the aerospace laboratories. Air-frames, wind tunnels, and avionics are some elements of the lab. Air-frames, wind tunnels, and avionics are some elements of the lab. It also consists of a computing facility.

It also consists of a computing facility. Students feel a sense of joy when they are learning fluid dynamics, avionics, air traffic measurement, aerodynamics, and continuum mechanics as the course subjects while studying BE in Aerospace Engineering. These subjects exponentially increase curiosity and imagination in students to utilize these core engineering topics in real-life aircraft or spacecraft.

Additionally, this course helps students to get an insight into the construction methods of aircraft, their components, and their repair and maintenance to maintain the longevity of the aircraft.

Eligibiltiy for BE Aerospace

To be eligible to study the BE aerospace course, one must meet the following criteria:-

  • Should have completed their intermediate level of education or equivalent level with a minimum of 45% or C in the letter grading system.
  • Should have passed the entrance examination conducted by the Institute of Engineering (IOE).

Admission Requirement

Those individuals who are interested in pursuing aerospace engineering should attend the entrance examination. They can fill up the exam form online.

Here are a few key details that might be important to the entrance-appearing applicants.

  • The questions asked in the exam are of an objective type.
  • Certain percentile of the mark that the question carries might be deducted if the answer to it is wrong.
  • The number of seats available for the course is less, so securing the passing mark or even the threshold score might not be enough to secure a seat for the BE aerospace course.
  • The notice regarding the entrance examination is issued by the Institute of Engineering (IOE).

After you clear your entrance exam and are eligible to study the BE Aerospace course, one might require you to submit the following documents to the college for the admission procedure.

  • Marksheet, character certificate, and certificate of SEE or SLC.
  • Transcript, Migration certificate, and, Mark sheet of 10+2 or any equivalent course
  • Copy of citizenship or passport

Scope of BE Aerospace

The BE Aerospace course is relatively new in Nepal. The aviation sector of the country is also developing. New airports are being constructed and many airlines are active as of today. This opens up a huge scope for students after graduation.

Moreover, the aviation industry of the world is open to capable individuals. After graduating and securing their license aerospace engineers can pursue their career abroad too.

The more the development, the more manpower is required. This stands true for the aviation industry of Nepal. Aerospace engineers can work in this sector to design, develop and maintain the aircraft. They will also be responsible for the aircraft safety. BE aerospace graduates can continue their education. They can get their master’s degree in aerospace engineering or astronautics engineering.

Some of the potential careers for the aerospace engineer are listed below:-

  • Work for Government:
The BE aerospace graduates can work in the different sectors of the government that are related to aviation. They can work for the development of the Nepal Civil Aviation or the army.

  • Career Abroad:
Every country has airports and their aviation industry. The BE aerospace scholars can pursue their careers abroad.

  • Space Industry:
BE aerospace course prepares its students for the space industry as well. It provides knowledge about the design and maintenance of the spacecraft.

Graduates can furthermore study it and pursue their careers in the space industry. They can be involved in projects that mainly deals with the spacecraft construction and maintenance.
