Those individuals who were interested in aviation and wanted to pursue their career in aerospace engineering had to travel abroad for it. The country also lacked experts in the field of aviation.

Sensing this, the Institute of Engineering (IOE) of Tribhuvan University (TU) introduced a BE Aerospace course in 2075/76.

It is a new course that is designed to produce an aerospace engineer who can contribute to the aviation industry development.

General Information about BE Aerospace Course

BE Aerospace is a 4-year undergraduate degree. There are eight semesters in total where the credit hours for this course is 246.

Pulchowk Engineering Campus, affiliated with Tribhuvan University (TU), is the only college providing this course.

The total number of seats available for this degree is 48.

The course provides thorough knowledge of the aerospace engineering principles. The students are not only provided with theoretical studies but also with industrial exposure.

Students gain practical knowledge and first-hand experience from the aerospace laboratories. Air-frames, wind tunnels, and avionics are some elements of the lab. It also consists of a computing facility.

Students are taught different aspects of aerospace engineering throughout the program. Fluid dynamics, avionics, air traffic measurement, aerodynamics, and continuum mechanics are some of the topics that pupils will learn about.

The course also provides an insight into the manufacturing process of the aircraft, their structure and the maintenance it requires.

Objectives of Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering

The primary purpose of a BE aerospace is to provide the knowledge required to design and develop aircraft, spacecraft, or any other flying vehicles.

Eligibility Criteria of Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering

To be eligible to study the BE aerospace course, one must meet the following criteria:

  • Should have completed their intermediate level of education or equivalent level with a minimum of 45% or C in the letter grading system.
  • Should have passed the entrance examination conducted by the Institute of Engineering (IOE).

Admission Requirement

Those individuals who are interested in pursuing aerospace engineering should attend the entrance examination. They can fill up the exam form online.

Here are a few key details that might be important to the entrance-appearing applicants.

  • The questions asked in the exam are of an objective type.
  • Certain percentile of the mark that the question carries might be deducted if the answer to it is wrong.
  • The number of seats available for the course is less, so securing the passing mark or even the threshold score might not be enough to secure a seat for the BE aerospace course.
  • The notice regarding the entrance examination is issued by the Institute of Engineering (IOE).

After you clear your entrance exam and are eligible to study the BE Aerospace course, one might require you to submit the following documents to the college for the admission procedure.

  • Marksheet, character certificate, and certificate of SEE or SLC.
  • Transcript, Migration certificate, and, Mark sheet of 10+2 or any equivalent course
  • Copy of citizenship or passport

Fee Structure

The fee structure for studying the BE Aerospace course in Nepal is about NPR 6,00,000.

The only college providing the course is Pulchowk Campus. Students can know about the detailed price from there too.


The Institute of Engineering (IoE) of Tribhuvan University provides scholarships to students who are willing to pursue the BE Aerospace course.

Out of 36 seats available, 36 students have to pay the full fee while the remaining 12 should pay around NPR 68,000 as the regular fee. This is determined based on the merit list.
