overview

The BE Industrial course is a multidisciplinary undergraduate program that is focused on better production of goods, spanning a variety of fields related to the production of manufacturing or consumer products. It entails boosting efficiency, lowering production costs, enhancing quality control, guaranteeing employee health and safety, safeguarding the environment, and adhering to factory requirements.

The BE Industrial course in Nepal is a recent degree introduced by the Tribhuvan University, Institute of Engineering (TU IoE) IN 2062 B.S. Currently, Thapathali Engineering Campus affiliated with TU  is the only educational institute in Nepal that provides this degree.

Assuming that the country's manufacturing growth is still at its pace, manpower in this field will be required in more numbers. Hopefully, there will be other educational institutions that will provide this course.

General Information

A Bachelor of Industrial Engineering provides students with knowledge of various engineering prospects of industry such as installation of systems, management of skilled manpower, and enhancement in productivity. Universities in Nepal have allotted 4 years or 8 semesters to complete a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering in Nepal.

Talking about the curriculum, the BIE course was created to produce professionals who would work in Nepal's manufacturing sector and help the country generate more products and services.

The BE Industrial course syllabus is designed to meet that aim. It covers a wide range of related topics and various engineering principles. Below listed are some of the areas that this degree covers:

  • Computer Programming
  • Workshop Technology
  • Material Science and Metallurgy
  • Manufacturing Technology
  • Manufacturing Management
  • Control System
  • Operation Research

Besides these students also learn about plant layout design and operation health and safety, theory of mechanics, production process and technology, and many more.

Along with these areas, students get insight into the manufacturing sector of the country through field visits. They receive vast knowledge of the field through lab and project work.

These topics provide students with the comprehensive knowledge and skills required for an individual to work as an industrial engineer.

objectives of Bachelor of Industrial Engineering

The BIE course focuses on the optimization of complex processes, systems, or organizations through the development, improvement, and implementation of various integrated systems. This is the primary motive of the program.

Here are a few other objectives of the BE Industrial degree:-

  • To embed students with the ability to solve problems related to complex systems and processes.
  • To strengthen the ability of students to utilize engineering principles, science, and mathematics to solve issues in real-life scenarios.
  • To teach the methodologies required for the efficient use of resources and manage it.
  • To give an insight into the techniques required to obtain the quality as per the standards.
  • To impart knowledge on how to deal with the issues and difficulties that Nepal's industries face.
