BE Civil Course in Nepal

The first male civil engineer in Nepal was Er. Kul Ratna Tuladhar and Er. Shanti Malla was the first female civil engineer in Nepal. However, the course of BE in Civil in Nepal was established decades after their graduation. The bachelor program in civil engineering was first established by the Pulchowk campus under Tribhuvan University in 1984 AD regularly. As of there, there are more than 6 universities that provide the course of bachelor in civil engineering in Nepal. Many new colleges having civil engineering programs are being established by affiliating with certain universities to meet the requirement of skilled manpower in the country.

Nepal is a developing country. The construction of infrastructure has rapidly increased within this decade. It is essential to establish sustainable infrastructure which is not only economical but also can run for a long period. So, the demand for civil engineers in Nepal is increasing day by day.

Nepal has been facing geological hazards on a regular basis. Civil engineers can play a vital role in the construction of the infrastructure which can withstand the substantial effects of geo-hazard areas using the knowledge acquired while completing a bachelor's in civil engineering.

BE in civil provides a platform for students to learn various design and analysis software such as ETABS, SAP 2000, and OpenSees. Using the skills of these tools a civil engineer can design and analyze the structure in such a way that it can withstand various man-made and natural hazards.

Students who graduate with a BE in civil can use the knowledge of hydrology engineering, water resource engineering, and civil engineering to mitigate the effect of floods in various parts of Nepal. Similarly, after graduating Bachelor's in civil engineering, students can also work as energy engineer.
