The Bachelor of Fashion Design (BFD) degree has been a four-year (eight-semester) course in stylish garment design in Nepal. Purbanchal University (PU) introduced this course in 2002.

The BFD program is the successor to the former three-year (6-semester) curriculum. However, it has since been altered to become Nepal's first-ever Bachelor in Fashion Design program. The BFDM program is founded on an excellent and worldwide standard curriculum that fosters student creativity and innovation while preparing them for professional achievement in this demanding field.

Students in the program receive comprehensive training theoretically and practically. The BFD course provides skills in technological areas from an amazing team of faculty members in a very supportive learning environment.

Pupils gain proficiency in developing innovative design concepts. It also builds the ability to bring those concepts to life through the use of basic and advanced methods and tools in areas such as drawing, patternmaking, apparel design, clothing structure, and many others.

  • Candidates must have passed +2 or equivalent examinations with at least a 35 percent overall grade point average in any faculty/stream from a college/university/board certified by Purbanchal University, Nepal.
  • Students awaiting the results of their +2 exams may also apply provisionally. Prior training in fashion design is not required for admission.
  • Applicants who have finished the class 10 level are entitled to undertake diploma-level courses.
  • Satisfactory finishing two or more examinations in any faculty or stream under any educational board recognized by the University is required for the Bachelor of Fashion Design.
