BHMS Course in Nepal
The history of homeopathy and its education is not very old in Nepal. It can be said that it officially started with the establishment of Pashupati Homeopathic Hospital in 1953.
With the initiation of Mr. Tarun Sancheti, Nepal Homeopathic Medical College was established in Biratnagar. It was in 1998 when a Bachelor of Homeopathy Medicine and Surgery was found to be equivalent to an MBBS degree in the study of medicine and treatment areas for patients and providing healthcare to the general public.
Nepal Homeopathic Medical College which is affiliated to Purbanchal University till now is the only educational institute that provides BHMS courses in Nepal from the Medical and Allied Science Faculty.
General Information
Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery or simply BHMS course is an undergraduate degree with an intensive study of 4 and a half years of theoretical education and a year of compulsory internship. This academic program has been provided by Purbanchal University. Graduates can work in hospitals, clinics, and insurance firms and treat health disorders which are most commonly found in citizens of Nepal from young to advanced age. It can also open teaching career paths in paramedical Schools and institutes in Nepal.
Course Structure
BHMS course structure focuses on providing students with the philosophy and the principles of homeopathic medicine. In the syllabus, we can see that the traditional ways are integrated with modern science for a more comprehensive approach to methods to treat diseases.

Admission Requirment for BHMS
Students should appear in the entrance examination conducted by Purbanchal University offering this program. Prospective freshers can find the admission and entrance forms on the official website of the university or they can visit the respective administration of the offering institution as well.
The students should fill up the form with the correct information and submit it. They have to pay the fee for the exam through the medium recognized by the university. The applicants should clear the exam with the threshold score to be eligible to study the BHMS course.

- Students must secure 50% of the total marks to secure a seat for the course.
- The university will consider the admission test marks of the student while creating the merit list for the scholarship.
