The BHTM is an undergraduate degree offered by Kathmandu University (K.U), under the faculty of Hospitality and Tourism. BHTM in Kathmandu University is a practice oriented and industry relevant program. BHTM is a 4 year program. This degree is based on semester system and has been divided into altogether eight semesters in total, covering a total of 132 credit hours, in which 16.5 credit hours i.e. a minimum period of 6 months is for an internship program. Internship can be done in any business, industrial, governmental or non-governmental organization related to hotel, restaurants, accommodations, travel agency, trekking agency, and airlines. This BHTM course provides both theoretical and practical understanding to the students to empower them with the proficient knowledge of operations and management in the tourism industry. This degree focuses to develop an entrepreneurial skill in the essential field and provide students an opportunity to work in relevantsector professionally as well as successfully.

Objectives of Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management

The main objectives of BHTM are as follows:

  • To provide theoretical and practical knowledge to the students for proper handling, managing and planning of the tourism sector.

Admission Requirements in Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management

Eligibility for the Admission:

  • The applicant must pass Kathmandu University Undergraduate Minimum Admission Test (KUUMAT) exam conducted by Kathmandu University with at least the minimum pass score.
  • Students must have to complete their 10+2 or Proficiency Certificate Level(PCL), or any level equivalent to them from colleges/ universities recognized by Kathmandu University with minimum 50% marks in aggregate or CGPA of 2.00 on the scale of 4.00 or have to pass GCE 'A' level with a minimum GPA of 'C' or above.
  • Non-Nepali (International) students can also apply.
