Manipal College of Medical Sciences (MCOMS) is a private medical college that is situated in Pokhara. The institution is affiliated with Kathmandu University, is associated with the 750-bed Manipal Teaching Hospital in Pokhara, and has been known to enroll around 245 students in each batch for the MBBS clinical qualification. MCOMS is recognized by the Medical Council of Nepal, Sri Lanka, and various other nations and is also recognized by WHO and FAIMER. Manipal College of Medical Sciences is self-financed and offers free seats to 30 Nepali students. 20% of MBBS seats are reserved for candidates nominated by the Government of Nepal, with whom MCOMS doesn’t charge any fees.

Furthermore, Manipal College also provides full and partial scholarships to deserving candidates of SAARC and other international MBBS students. Besides the MBBS program, Manipal College of Medical Sciences also sponsors a large number of postgraduate students, and about 5% of Nepalese students are provided with 100% scholarships for the nursing degree. It offers a five-and-a-half-year MBBS degree (four-and-a-half years + one-year internship) program. Since the year 2000 A.D., MCOMS has initiated postgraduate programs and the School of Nursing and Allied Health programs. This venture has served the institution in developing Nepal’s healthcare status and has provided employment opportunities to many local people.

Facilities

Manipal College of Medical Sciences offers all the necessary facilities for students. From clinical services to diagnostic services with X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and USGs (video X-rays) that are available 24 hours a day, the institution has it all. There are three separate labs for carrying out all tests, which are the biochemistry lab, the microbiology lab, and the pathology lab. The institution also provides modern lab information software (LIS) with a sample tracking system, which ensures maximum accuracy in sample processing, quality of tests, and well-timed delivery of reports. Besides this, Manipal College of Medical Sciences also offers 2-D echocardiography, psychiatry/neurology, and peripheral and spinal angiography with DSA facilities.

There are separate hostels for boys and girls and a cafeteria that serves a three-course meal. Transportation will be provided to students during breaks and holidays to return to their respective homes or the nearest and most convenient bus stop. All these facilities provided by Manipal College, along with the beautiful Pokhara landscape and scenery, make this institution a very attractive and advantageous place to pursue your medical degree.
