The NAIHS (Nepal Army Institute of Health Sciences) College of Medicine is located at Bhadrakal, Sanobharyang, Kathmandu. In the beginning, the NAIHS College of Medicine was recognized by Tri-Chandra Military Hospital (TCMH), which was established in 1925 A.D. (1982 B.S.). The college was established in honor of Nepalese soldiers who were loyal to their country. It was considered one of the best hospitals of its time.
NAIHS College of Medicine has much fame attached to its name. The hospital introduced fiber-optic endoscope services and created a semi-automatic lab. On the other hand, the upgraded services were shifted to Shree Birendra Hospital (SBH) in Chhauni, Kathmandu. New technology such as MRI and Extra Corporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL), as well as multislice helical CT, was introduced for the first time.

The idea of the establishment of NAIHS originated with the need to improve the patient care system within the Nepalese Army Medical Corps (NAMC) by including the medical potentialities of its health professionals.
