Overview

Nepalgunj Medical College (NGMC) was established in 1997 A.D. with MBBS course. Later, the college added nursing program in 2000 A.D. and post graduate program in 2007 A.D. “Excellence in Medical Education” is the motto of the college since it has sufficient human resources and state-of-the-art facilities of the most modern and sophisticated equipment, and a team of well qualified professionals in every department. Nepalgunj Medical College is among the recommendation of Nepal Medical Council, Medical Council of India, Sri Lanka and Medical Councils of SAARC and other countries. It is affiliated, and follows the prescribed curriculum of, Kathmandu University. It has its own two well equipped teaching hospitals in two main cities of Banke district; having 830 beds in the teaching hospital at Kohalpur, and 220 beds in the hospital at Nepalgunj.

After finishing their course from Nepalgunj Medical College, graduates have been known to be working and studying in Nepal, India, USA, UK, Australia and various other nations. The institution is enlisted in the “world directory of medical schools”. Thus, the graduates of this institute can appear in USMILE and PLAB test in USA and UK. Many of the graduates have secured more than 92% success rate in MCI screening test and have been selected for PG and DNB.

Mission

Nepalgunj Medical College has played a vital role in the area of human resource development, hence, contributing in national development. The institution also aims to develop technical Education Institutes that are in par with international standards in medical and other fields in order to achieve the status of a truly elite University. The following are the main goals laid out by the college:

  • To develop medical, dental, nursing and health related educational institutions in Nepal, particularly in the Mid-West and Far-West development regions since these are the least developed regions of the country.
  • To provide manpower of the highest quality that will help in developing the whole country in general, and the Mid-West and Far-West regions in particular.
  • To provide quality health care services and also develop human resources in medical, dental and nursing fields in order to meet the national and international needs.
  • To enable appropriate knowledge, skill and attitude in the graduates of the programs so that they may serve as community oriented physicians, surgeons, nurses and researchers.
