M.Phil in English is a post graduate research course designed for students who wish to attain a comprehensive background in English Language and English Literature. It is also a intermediate degree between Masters and Ph.D. 

 

In Nepal- Tribhuvan University, Pokhara University, Kathmandu University run M.Phil in English program. This program is three semesters of 30 credit hours of Tribhuvan University. At Pokhara University this program consist of three semesters where students have to complete 33 credit hours in 18 months.  Kathmandu University also provides this program. It is one and half year research degree which has 33 credit hours spreading over three semesters. There are individual studies and dissertation options as well as individualized courses that give freedom and flexibility to follow personal interests. 

 

TU course is more oriented towards producing teaching professionals at University, College and Training Institutes. KU, M.Phil is trimester and their course helps to provide research and academic communication including research methods, statistics for research, academic writing and seminar issues. Pokhara University M.Phil English course have to produce qualified and dediated academicians with philosophical and theoritical knowledge in contemporary and modern socio-political issues.
