Bachelor of Civil Engineering or BE Civil course is a four-year, 8-semester program at Tribhuvan University (TU). In this program, about fifty core and elective courses are offered in the time duration of four years.
Civil Engineering is the branch of Engineering that deals with planning, designing, constructing, repairing, and maintenance of various infrastructures. All the physical infrastructures like bridges, roads, canals, skyscrapers, etc. are constructed and maintained under the supervision of a Civil Engineer.
BE Civil course was first introduced by Pulchowk Campus, Tribhuvan University (TU) in 1998 and now several colleges are running this program. With the increasing requirement of infrastructure, the BE Civil course has garnered a wide range of popularity among the students. It has become the first career choice for various students.
Fee Structure
The Pulchowk Engineering Campus provides scholarships to 228 deserving students as per the merit list and 204 students have to pay the full fee. However, other affiliated colleges of Pulchowk Campus of Tribhuvan University (TU) provide full and partial scholarships as per the rule and their capacity.
Most of the colleges offering BE Civil have not mentioned the fee structure on their website. However, it can be estimated that it costs about NRs. 8 to 12 lakhs for pursuing this degree. The cost of government colleges like Thapathali Engineering Campus, is lesser than that of private institutions.

Entrance exam:
The entrance exam for the BE Civil course is carried out by being in line with the entrance test syllabus published by IOE in 5 different subjects which are:

The test is 2 hours, taken in the computerized system (Students should sit in front of computers and click the right answer) and there are 100 questions with 140 full marks asked in the objective format. The wrong answer may result in a deduction of 10% of the total marks carried by each question.
Entrance Preparation:
Students who wish to enroll for BE Civil course in top engineering colleges in Nepal should secure good rank in the entrance examination conducted by IOE. It is not that easy to get good marks in the BE entrance exam without doing comprehensive preparation.
So, in order to have your name in the upper place on the merit list and secure your place in the top engineering colleges in Nepal, preparation classes are very helpful and supplementary to your study. The 2- 3 months course costs about NRs. 15 to 18 thousand. Some of the best institutes for entrance preparation are PEA, KEI, and NAEE.
