Overview
The tourism industry has been growing consistently with the advancement of modern infrastructures. This has become one of the most popular industries on this globe. With the rise of its popularity, various formal and informal education systems related to the tourism industry have been established to develop well-rounded professionals. One of those programs is the Bachelor of Travel and Tourism Management (BTTM).
BTTM was started under the affiliation of Tribhuvan University in 2003 AD. Currently, this program falls under the Faculty of Management. The BTTM program has been designed in such a way that the professionals developed can meet the requirements of the national and international-level tourism market. The BTTM program at TU combines communication and leadership skills with business knowledge to create an optimistic influence in the tourism industry.
Objectives
The objectives of studying Bachelor of Travel and Tourism Management program of Tribhuvan University are these:
- To gain comprehensive understanding and operations of the tourism industry in theory and practice.
- To produce mid level tourism managers, operators and service providers in tourism sectors
- To gain first hand knowledge and skills for functioning of tourism enterprises with field work, practical work, seminars, and trainings along with theoretical knowledge
- To equip with global scale knowledge, the environmental and technological consideration and developmental areas of tourism industry sector

Program Structure
BTTM is a four-year undergraduate program that is taught on a semester-wise basis. There are a total of eight semesters in the BBTM program. The curriculum is mainly focused on developing students with the knowledge and proficiencies to accomplish various responsibilities associated with the tourism industry. The BTTM program at TU has subdivided the course content into four different parts: the compulsory courses, the core courses, industrial attachment and placement, project work, and the elective. For the final exam evaluation, 40% and 60% of marks are evaluated from internal and external examinations for the theory-related subjects, respectively. The total credit hours of this program are 126. The list of these subjects with their credit hours is as follows:
Specializations
There are four elective subjects available for students in their 7th semester. These subjects are tourism and aviation, spiritual tourism, airline operation and management, and travel photography and videography. Students have to choose only one subject among these 4. After completing the BTTM program at TU, students can specialize in the following sectors:
- Adventurous Tourism
- Cultural and Traditional Tourism
- Promotion of Tourism
- Tourism Sustainability
Admission Requirements
Prospective students need to successfully graduate 12 years of schooling to get admission to the BTTM courses at TU from the institution that Tribhuvan University recognizes. Students must pass their plus two with at least a D grade in each of their subjects. Pupils should compile all the procedures required in the application. Students must appear in the CMAT examination that is conducted by the Faculty of Management. They should pay Rs.1000 as an application fee to appear in CMAT. Applicants who are accepted need to submit original credentials at the period of admission.
CMAT
This is the entrance exam conducted to select the qualified students to enroll in the BTTM program. This test examines the verbal ability, quantitative ability, logical reasoning, and general awareness of students. This exam consists of 100 objective questions with one mark each. Pupils need to secure at least 40% in this exam. Only after this do learners become qualified for an interview.

Fee Structure
The fee structure of BTTM in Nepal under TU is relatively affordable compared to other programs. The fees range from NRs. 150,000 to NRs. 250,000. For detailed information on fees, individuals can visit the official website of the colleges or contact the administration.

The Bachelor of Travel and Tourism Management course provides all the essential abilities for students so that they can resume their educational journey by choosing a master’s program in Nepal or abroad. The knowledge and skills developed while completing this program are as per the modern industry demand. Some of the jobs graduates can choose after completing the BTTM program are as follows:
- Visitor Information Manager: In this job role, they have to supervise employees, create material for promotion, interact with people to answer their questions, take bookings, and sell the mementos.
- Event Manager: Employed in this role, they need to develop ideas and conduct promotional activities related to tourism. Additionally, they conduct various activities to ensure the relevant audiences are occupied as well as marketed to efficiently.
- Travel counselor: In this job role, they have to create descriptions for destinations and advertise the traveling to that location. Additionally, they need to research the costs for food, accommodation, and transportation of a tourist location before offering the traveling packages to the customers.
- Consultant: In this job role, they can suggest effective and efficient measures to the government or private companies for the growth and welfare of the tourism industry of a country.

Frequently Asked Questions
Students need to score a minimum of 2.7 CGPA to pass in each subject and 3 CGPA overall to graduate BTTM program at TU.
Students need to pass all the subjects including backlogs of the BTTM program within 7 years of the starting date of this program.
The students are required to finish an industrial exposure and internship for a minimum period of 20 weeks.
