Entrance Exam
Every year the Institute of Engineering conducts a preliminary test for students to qualify them to enroll in the Bachelor of Engineering program of TU. BE in Geomatics is also one of the fields of this engineering program offered by TU. This exam has a total score of 140 and the questions are mostly asked from the curriculum of physics, chemistry, mathematics, and English subjects of classes 11 and 12. There is a 10 percent negative marking for each wrong answer, however, you will not face the consequence of a negative marking if you do not attempt a question. Sometimes it can be better to leave a question than attempting a question based on guesses. Students must comply with the following requirements to take the IOE entrance examination:

  • 1. Students are required to complete their intermediate-level education from institutes having physics, math, and chemistry as part of their curriculum. They are required to score 45 percent or grade C as an aggregate score.
  • 2. Students who have recently featured in 12th class or 6th-semester examinations are also allowed to take the entrance exam.

Program Structure

Bachelor of Engineering in Geomatics at TU is a semester-based program with a time duration of 4 years. This program has a total of 8 semesters. There are a total of 47 subjects in this program. In addition to that, field surveys are conducted in the fourth and sixth semesters of this program. The course curriculum of this program is developed in such a way that students can transition from principles of science to core engineering principles smoothly. The second year focuses on building the foundation of students in geomatics engineering. The third year focuses on providing students the knowledge related to the core concept of geomatics engineering. The final year of this program helps pupils to develop their program management and project-handling skills. Additionally, this year also provides the provision of selecting electives in which students can specialize in the future.

Specializations

Geomatics engineering is one of the specializations of the Civil Engineering field. Despite that, BE in Geomatics at TU provides students with the opportunity to select electives in their seventh semester and eighth semester. Pupils can select one subject from the pool of three as elective I. They can only select one subject from the pool of three as elective II and they can select only one subject from the pool of two as elective III. It is always beneficial for students if they get help from a career counselor before choosing these electives. Additionally, they can also get help from their seniors while choosing the electives. The list of these electives subjects is as follows:

Career Prospects

The bachelor of Geomatics Engineering equips students with all the necessary knowledge so that they can pursue a master's degree in the future. However, they are required to earn an engineering license to go abroad to pursue a master’s degree or pursue a job. Some job roles graduates can choose after completing BE in Geomatics are as follows:
1. Geomatics Engineer: Employed in this job, they have to use their skills to advance the geospatial devices and elements embedded with them.
