BSc Chemistry | TU

Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (BSc Chemistry) is an undergraduate program offered by Tribhuvan University (TU), under the management of the Institute of Science and Technology (IoST). It is a four-year annual degree program with a total of 1,600 full marks, which includes theory, laboratory work, and thesis writing. The duration of this degree program was changed from three years to four years in the year 2069 BS (2012 A.D) to provide students with an international standard education at a reasonable price.

The BSc Chemistry program focuses on the study of the nature and structure of substances, atoms, molecules, and the changes that occur within them. Bachelor of Science in Chemistry is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of various fields of chemistry and related sciences. This program prepares students for careers in chemical industries, private and public laboratories, government sectors, and enables them to become professional and successful chemists.

Objectives of BSc Chemistry

The BSc Chemistry program was initiated by Tribhuvan University(TU) with the following objectives:
  • To produce highly skilled and knowledge-based manpower in the field of chemistry.
  • To prepare students for higher studies at the Master's level in Chemistry or other related fields.
  • To develop skilled, intellectual, and passionate chemists who can work as researchers in chemical and related laboratories and industries, contributing to the development of new chemical products and materials.
  • To equip graduates with the necessary knowledge and skills to work in the pharmaceutical industry, including designing, developing, analyzing, evaluating, and regulating new and existing pharmaceuticals.
  • To provide theoretical and practical knowledge to chemists, enabling them to identify chemical risks and harmful toxins in substances intended for public consumption.
  • To develop human resources capable of discovering new medicines and vaccines, as well as conducting forensic analysis in criminal cases.
  • To prepare chemic experts who can analyze existing plans and policies, ensuring that they align with scientific advancements.
