Objectives of BSc Midwifery
The primary objectives of the Bachelor of Science in Midwifery program are:
- Establish a formidable presence of midwives who possess high levels of professional competence and expertise.
- Reduction in morbidity and mortality rates among both mothers and newborns.
- Assist the local healthcare system in maximizing the utilization of a comprehensive range of skills and capabilities.
Admission Requirements in BSc Midwifery
Eligibility Criteria:
- Students can qualify by studying Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and attaining at least 50% or a 2.4 CGPA/GPA from a recognized educational institution in the secondary level.
- Students with A-level qualifications or an equivalent grading system can qualify if they have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and achieve a minimum of 50% or a 2.4 CGPA/GPA in total or its equivalent.
- For those pursuing health science-related qualifications or diplomas such as General Medicine, Medical Laboratory Technology, Ophthalmic Science, Dental Science, Pharmacy, Radiography, Ayurveda, and Physiotherapy, meeting the following criteria is necessary:
- Obtaining a minimum of 50% aggregate marks or an equivalent in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
- Achieving at least 50% or a 2.4 CGPA/GPA from the National Examination Board in Class 12 Science Group or its equivalent
- Being registered with the relevant council.
Entrance Exam:
Candidates who are planning to get admission in the BSc Midwifery program must clear the entrance exam conducted by the Tribhuvan University, as per the guidelines of the Medical Education Commission.

The students who have completed the Bachelor of Science in Midwifery degree (BSc Midwifery) can avail the following job positions after their graduation in Nepal:
- Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM)
- Public Health Nurse
- Hospital and Community Midwife
- NGO and INGO Jobs
- Nutrition Consultant
