BA economics is a three year program of Tribhuvan University, taught under annual system. Economics is one of the most demanding courses in BA. In BA economics the students will study how does markets work, to decide what to produce, how to produce, and for whom to produce and how income is distributed. In BA economics, the students will be taught about concepts related to inflation, poverty and many more burning issues in the world. In the first year Micro economics is taught, while in the second year macroeconomics and mathematical economics is taught. In the third year development economics and public finance is the highlight. Each subject carries a total of 100 marks. BA economics falls under the faculty of Humanities and Social Science. In some countries, this subject is taught under science stream.

Objectives of B.A. Economics

The main objectives of BA economics offered by Tribhuvan University are as follows:

Admission Requirements in B.A. Economics

Eligibility and admission requirements for BA economics offered by Tribhuvan University:

  • +2 or equivalent degree from Tribhuvan University or University/ board/ institution recognized by TU from any stream.
  • Students can directly study economics in BA irrespective of their proficiency level.
  • No entrance exam is required. 
  • Generally, there is no minimum marks requirement but  some private colleges may ask for second division in intermediate level.
