BA Economics | TU

BA Economics or Bachelor of Arts in Economics is a three-year program offered by Tribhuvan University, taught under an annual system. Economics is one of the most demanding courses in Bachelor of Arts in Economics program. In this program, students study how markets work, how to make decisions about what to produce, how to produce it, and for whom to produce, as well as how income is distributed. Additionally, This program covers concepts related to inflation, poverty, and other pressing global issues.

During the first year, Microeconomics is taught, followed by Macroeconomics and Mathematical Economics in the second year. In the third year, Development Economics and Public Finance are the main focus. Each subject carries a total of 100 marks. Bachelor of Arts in Economics is under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. In some countries, this subject is taught under the Science stream.

Admission Requirements in BA Economics

The eligibility and admission requirements for Bachelor of Arts in Economics offered by Tribhuvan University are as follows:

  • Applicants must have completed their +2 or equivalent degree from Tribhuvan University or from a university/board/institution recognized by TU, regardless of their academic stream.
  • Students can directly pursue the study of economics in BA, regardless of their proficiency level in the subject.
  • No entrance exam is required for admission to the Bachelor of Arts Economics program.
  • Generally, there is no minimum marks requirement for admission. However, it is worth noting that some private colleges may require applicants to have a second division in their intermediate level.
