Admission Requirements in Bachelor of Information Management
To get admitted into Tribhuvan University’s BIM program, the student must meet certain academic criteria, pass an entrance exam, and make it through an interview. So let’s go through these aspects one at a time:
Academic Criteria
- Students who wish to enroll in the BIM program at TU need to have completed high school from NEB’s +2 or an equivalent level recognized by TU.
- They must have scored a minimum of D+ during their +2 and maintained at least a CGPA of 1.80 or passed out with a second division in an equivalent program.
Should the student meet these academic cut-offs, they can proceed to signing up for the Entrance Exam.
The Entrance
As with most advanced management courses offered by Tribhuvan University, the BIM program also requires students to take a CMAT exam.
The Central Management Admission Test is administered by the Faculty of Management at Tribhuvan University. The test is conducted annually and students have to register for the test online.
The two-hour test has a hundred questions divided into 4 segments. The segments are Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning, and General Awareness. Each segment has 25 questions worth a point each, and to pass you have to score at least 40 points. However, just passing the test does not ensure that one makes it past this step. The student must have scored higher than others competing for the same seats. Once a student makes it past this stage, there is a high likelihood of admission.
Interview
After the CMAT exam, the colleges often call students in for an interview to assess their ability to deal with questions as they come and get an even more refined understanding of their aptitude. Post-interview, the students will be offered admission into the BIM program on a merit basis.
