Master of Hospitality Management | TU

Master of Hospitality Management, or MHM, is a master degree offered by Tribhuvan University (TU) with the main purpose of transforming graduates into skilled and higher-ranking managers to function in diverse areas. MHM is a two-year program divided over four semesters. Students are required to study a total of 60 credit hours to complete this program. This program is designed to produce graduates with the skills and aptitudes to manage highly competitive and swiftly growing areas. This program is registered under the FOM at Tribhuvan University.

The curriculum of the Master of Hospitality Management TU program includes compulsory and core courses; focus area courses; elective courses; industrial attachment; and theses. The students have to go through the same course content until the third semester. But in the fourth semester, there are three elective subjects: rural tourism, event management, and property management. Students have to choose any one subject among them. Each subject is 3 credit hours, except the thesis, which is 6 credit hours.

Objectives of Master of Hospitality Management

The major objectives of Master of Hospitality Management program are as follows:

  • To provide a sound knowledge of travel and tourism industry to the students.
  • To train students to act in different multicultural context of our economy.
  • To prepare the students in theoretical, practical and technical perspective of management.
  • To boost the knowledge of students through problem solving, teamwork, effective decision making and through good leadership.
  • To familiarize students with tourism sector through internship and other practical programs.

Admission Requirements in Master of Hospitality Management

Eligibility for the entrance:

  • To apply for this renowned degree, candidates must complete a bachelor degree in any discipline, such as BHM or BTTM, from Tribhuvan University or any universities accepted by Tribhuvan University with a score of at least a second division or a CGPA of 2.0.
  • Students having a bachelor degree from any stream with two years of working experience in the hospitality sector or those who have taught travel and tourism subjects at the bachelor level for two years can apply.
  • You must read English as a full paper in Bachelor or equivalent level.
  • Must fulfill all the application procedures sincerely.
  • Candidates eligible for MHM must appear for an entrance test known as the Central Management Admission Test (CMAT) held by FOM. The test will be based on an international testing pattern. It includes:
