Birmingham City University is located in Birmingham and offers a wide range of academic courses, including undergraduate programs, taught postgraduate programs, research-based postgraduate programs, foundation courses, and distance learning courses. It gained university status after 2007. The university's City Centre Campus has undergone three major developments, including the Parkside building for design and media students, the Curzon building, and a new building for music known as the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
