B.Sc. CSIT entrance exam notice published by IoST TU for 2080

Students interested in enrolling in the B.Sc. CSIT program for the year 2080 under the semester examination system are advised to take note of the following information regarding the entrance examination:

For the academic year 2080, Tribhuvan University, under its affiliated colleges and campuses, has published the following information regarding the entrance examination and the new enrollment program for students interested in pursuing a four-year Bachelor of Computer Science and Information Technology (B.Sc. CSIT) program, conducted under the semester examination system with a Grading System.

(1) Minimum Eligibility for Application:

(a) For students with a proficiency certificate (I.Sc.) in science from Tribhuvan University or an institution recognized by Tribhuvan University with a score of 100/100 in physics and mathematics, or those who have passed the 10+2 level with at least a second division in science from a high school with physics and mathematics subjects, obtaining 100/100 in each subject.

(b) For students with A-Level qualifications in science (with 100/100 marks in physics and mathematics), a minimum of a D grade (with or without small letters) is required.

(c) Students with a Three Years Diploma in Engineering from CTEVT in subjects related to science (with 100/100 marks in physics and mathematics) must have passed at least in the second division.

(d) For students who have obtained educational qualifications from foreign educational institutions or foreign universities, equivalent qualifications must be submitted through the Curriculum Development Center, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur.

(2) Application Process (Completely Online):

(a) Applicants are required to fill out the entrance examination application form, which is available on the website of the Institute of Science and Technology (IOST) for Science and Technology Studies. The application form should be completed online by the applicants themselves, and they must submit it through the same website by using the following URL: http://entrance.tuiost.edu.np/.

(b) On the website, the online form will be available from the date of 2080/04/32 (corresponding to 10:00 AM) until 2080/05/26. After the specified time, the online form will automatically close.

(c) The application form can be filled out online from anywhere during the specified days.

(d) The examination fee refundable amount is NPR 1,850 (One thousand eight hundred fifty rupees only). This amount should be deposited into the specific account prepared by the Global IME Bank Ltd., Kirtipur Branch, for the Institute of Science and Technology (IoST) entrance examination, which is available within Nepal.

To make this payment, you can use the online portal provided on IoST's website, as well as the app and links provided. Additionally, you can use ConnectIPS, e-Sewa, Khalti, or other similar platforms for the payment.

While filling out the online form, it is mandatory to enter the bank voucher number or Transaction ID number (for ConnectIPS, e-Sewa, Khalti, etc.). Applicants should submit the examination fee by 2080/05/26, no later than 3:00 PM in the afternoon.

Once the bank deduction is made, the examination fee refundable amount will not be returned.

(e) The online application form will be available from 2080/05/27 (corresponding to 10:00 AM) until 2080/05/31.

(f) Applicants must strictly follow the instructions available online while filling out the form and provide the required information and upload the necessary documents. The minimum eligibility documents for application include class 11 and 12 certificates/transcripts, equivalence certificates, and a passport-sized photo with an MRP Standard signature.

(g) After submitting the examination form online, an Acknowledgment Page will be immediately available for printing.

(h) From 2080/06/04 onwards, the admission cards will be available in a phased manner through online means. Applicants are required to download the admission card and print it in color. It is mandatory to carry the admission card along with a photo ID (such as citizenship certificate, driver's license, voter ID card, national ID card, or the latest educational level's admit card) to the designated district/center for the examination.

(3) While filling out the online form, students must select the district where they will be taking the examination. The available districts are as follows:
(a) Kathmandu Valley
(b) Jhapa
(c) Morang
(d) Sunsari
(e) Dhanusha
(f) Parsa
(g) Kaski
(h) Chitwan
(i) Rupandehi
(j) Dang
(k) Banke
(l) Kanchanpur

(4) The date, time, and examination center for the entrance examination will be published later.

(5) Information regarding the entrance examination:
(a) The entrance examination will have a total score of 100 marks, with the following distribution based on the curriculum of I.Sc. (Grade 11 and 12) or equivalent:

  • Mathematics: 25 marks
  • Physics: 25 marks
  • Chemistry: 25 marks
  • English: 15 marks
  • Computer-related knowledge: 10 marks

The examination will consist of objective/multiple-choice questions from the subjects mentioned above.

(b) The duration of the entrance examination will be 2 hours.

(c) To pass the entrance examination, candidates must obtain a minimum of 35% of the total marks.

(d) In the entrance examination results, if candidates score equal marks, eligibility lists will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the mathematics subject. If the marks are still equal, the following order will be used to determine eligibility: Physics, Chemistry, English + Computer Science knowledge. In the case of all subjects having equal marks, the lower educational level will be considered first. Marks obtained in this manner will not be published.

(6) Application:
After the announcement of the entrance examination results, every candidate must download their Score Sheet. Once the results are published, candidates are required to fill out a Priority Form. Interested candidates will find the names of campuses/colleges where they want to study. According to the procedure defined by the Examination Management Committee, Tribhuvan University, center-wise admissions will be made.

(7) Class Operation:
The details regarding the operation of classes will be published later.

(8) Regarding Inclusive Quota:
Campuses/colleges will conduct admissions based on the inclusive quota as per the provisions of the Semester System Operation Directive, 2074. For more information, please refer to the inclusive quota form available on this office's website.

(9) Scholarship Information:
The Scholarship-related procedures for Tribhuvan University, Institute of Science and Technology (IoST), will be as per the Scholarship Work Directive, which will be published separately.

Total B.Sc. CSIT seats available in 60 colleges (15 Constituent Campus and 45 Private Campus) including both Open (2429) and Samabesi (607) is 3036.
